How Bayern Munich Can Still Win It In Madrid

in #soccer7 years ago

Bayern Munich fell to Real Madrid 2-1 at the Allianz Arena. The game can be summed as equally exciting, confusing, frustrating, thrilling, and disappointing. Though Real Madrid won the game, Bayern had the best team in the world controlled but could not put the game away, allowing Los Blancos to fight their way back and win the game.

Bayern did many things right, and that should have resulted in a win. They were consistently on the offensive and pushed a sturdy, yet vulnerable, Real Madrid defence. Cristiano Ronaldo, the best player on the planet, was made a non-factor by Bayern.

Despite being let down by injuries yet again, losing two key starters in the first half and David Alaba, Bayern dominated the majority of the match. This can be seen from the clear statistical advantage shown below:

Ultimately, Real Madrid did enough to win, but the tie is far from over. Though Bayern has let this game slip through their fingers, they were able to push Real Madrid to a level of discomfort that they don’t face often. Thus there is still hope for Bayern in the second leg as they will go to the Santiago Bernabeu knowing that they have out-played the best team on the planet even if they came out with a saddening loss. With that knowledge in mind comes confidence and with that confidence comes hope and determination to pull it back. History has shown that it is possible and many teams have overturned greater odds than this and Bayern has proven they can score in the Bernabeu as evidenced by last year's defeat. Anything can happen in the Champions League no matter how unlikely it may seem at this moment.

What do you think? Will Bayern Munich pull it back and win against Real Madrid? Leave your thoughts down below.

I don't think Bayern played particularly well at all. I thought Ribery, Kimmich and Tolisso when he came on did well but it wasn't a great showing from the rest.

Also an odd performance from Ronaldo. Apart from when he scored but controlled it with his arm I barely remember anything he did.

I think overall they did well but their finishing was off. Ronaldo definitely got contained in this match

it was a strong match in the middle of the field, the bayer managed to create more chances and be more offensive but not concrete.

Yes their finishing let them down
