A new social media

Let me tell you about De Brunch Fam, a social media that just popped up from Malaysia. You can expect a fantasy setting and dragons roaming the skies so read till the end!

De Brunch Fam was founded by a group of student from Universiti Teknologi MARA, Kampus Alor Gajah to interact with each other as well as to eat brunch together (this explains the term brunch we use in our name).

In the beginning, Athirah, the girl who was responsible of getting the team together, made a Whatsapp group called Team Brunch that consists of me and 6 other members. We were all in the same course called New Media and Contentpreneurship, and we wanted to practice what we learnt in class. Thus on 1st January 2019 we created the website De Brunch Fam using Wordpress (CMS) and the plugins exists in its library like Buddypress, Woocommerce and Jetpack.

I was in charge of the whole website development so I did the best I could to apply what I learnt in class like easy to read upper and lower fold and easy to digest information. That stuff.

When we were done, we invited our friends and family to join our website and in 3 days we were 40 members strong. It was a big milestone for us but it wasn’t enough, so we created a Youtube channel called DBF and shared the content we created there on Whatsapp in hopes of attracting people on our website. With the help of our other members like Danial, Diyana, Imran and Raihan, we are able to make 3 or 4 content on Youtube each Month.

We did not forget Instagram, Facebook and Twitter though. DBF is also in these platforms as well.

De Brunch Fam does not use its users information to rake profit. I know it sounds stupid and it is. But I think everyone should have the rights to use their information to make their own money. Nuff said. The other possible solution to rake profit is to introduce a subscription for premium members while leaving the core service 100% free of charge. More on that later. We also want to produce our own merchandise, selling T shirt and hats as a way to exploit free marketing.

Lastly, we want to integrate Blockchain to retain the freedom of speech in our website and also help our user make money on the Internet.
