Crypto Decentraland (MANA) explodes by 270% in 24 hours - Thanks to Facebook's Metavers?
For once, the cryptocurrency that is the most talked about this weekend, and that surprises the most by its performance is the Decentraland (MANA), which currently ranks 35th in the ranking of the most important cryptocurrencies, after a gain of 130% over 24 hours and 345% over a week at the time of writing this article.
The Decentraland thus set a historic record at $4.85 on the night of Saturday to Sunday, when it started Saturday at around $1.30. MANA therefore posted an increase of more than 270% over 24 hours in its record last night.
Facebook Metavers (NASDAQ:FB) draws attention to Decentraland
Recall that Decentraland began taking off on Thursday, while MANA was only worth about $0.75 after Mark Zuckerburg, CEO of Facebook, announced that his company would create a "metavers", a virtual reality world where users could meet, work, play games and create works of art. Moreover, Facebook changed its name this week to "Meta", to reflect this new strategic direction.
This immediately drew attention to Decentraland, which is a decentralized 3D virtual reality platform based on the Ethereum blockchain, and which resembles on paper the project announced by Facebook.
Indeed, this new orientation of the social network, which is used by nearly 3 billion people per month, is a sign of enormous potential in the virtual world market, according to experts.
Decentraland's metavers - where users can buy digital art or create a virtual social world - is accessible with MANA digital tokens.
"MANA's dominant position in the metavers ecosystem will probably be reinforced by Facebook's decision to change brand and focus on creating its own extension of the digital world," said Denis Vinokourov, Head of Research at Synergia Capital, according to Coindesk.
Finally, it should be noted that Decentraland (MANA) has corrected since its record last night, but maintains a positive bias on the hourly chart, with a large support area just above $3.
