However, the problem is that Instagram Stories shared on Facebook can only be seen by friends and followers, not Instagram followers.

Given that some people may be more active on one of the platforms this can have mixed results.

But it seems that Facebook is testing the ability of Instagram users to share Instagram Stories directly on Facebook. This means that users may immediately see Instagram Stories on Facebook created by people who are followed on Instagram as well.

Quoting from Ubergizmo, Tuesday (8/9/2020), this sounds a bit confusing, but, if a user is someone who uses Facebook more than Instagram, there is no need to switch to Instagram if you want to see Stories created by people who are followed. However, the user must have an Instagram account linked to Facebook for this system to work.

For those concerned about privacy, Facebook notes that only people who follow on Instagram can see the Stories posted. So, there's no need to worry about non-followers on Facebook seeing it.
