Dumb & Dumber - Scientific Proof That People Are Getting 'Stupider'

in #society7 years ago (edited)

Do you believe that people are actually getting stupider ?

Are people dumber than they used to be?
Were previous generations mentally sharper than us? You may have suspected that people are getting stupider for quite some time, but now we actually have scientific evidence that this is the case. As you will read about below, average IQs are dropping all over the globe, SAT scores in the U.S. have been declining for decades, and scientists have even discovered that our brains have been getting smaller over time. So if it seems on some days like you woke up in the middle of the movie “Idiocracy”, you might not be too far off. Much of the stuff that they put in our junk food is not good for brain development, our education system is a total joke and most Americans are absolutely addicted to mindless entertainment. Fortunately we have a lot of technology that does much of our thinking for us these days, because if we had to depend on our own mental capabilities most of us would be in a tremendous amount of trouble.

Prenatal PDBE exposure damages intelligence

The study, published Aug. 3, 2017, in Environmental Health Perspectives, included the largest meta-analysis performed on flame retardants to date, and presented strong evidence of polybrominated diphenyl ethers' (PBDE) effect on children's intelligence.

Researchers examined data from studies around the world, covering nearly 3,000 mother-child pairs. They discovered that every 10-fold increase in a mom's PBDE levels led to a drop of 3.7 IQ points in her child.

"A 3.7-point decrease in IQ might not sound like a lot, but on a population-wide level it means more children who need early interventions and families who may face personal and economic burdens for the rest of their lives," said Juleen Lam, an associate research scientist at UCSF's Program on Reproductive Health and the Environment (PRHE) and the study's lead author.

"Many people are exposed to high levels of PBDEs, and the more PBDEs a pregnant woman is exposed to, the lower her child's IQ," said Woodruff. "And when the effects of PBDEs are combined with those of other toxic chemicals such as from building products or pesticides, the result is a serious chemical cocktail that our current environmental regulations simply don't account for."

The researchers also found some evidence of a link between PDBE exposures and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), but concluded that more studies are necessary to better characterize the relationship.

I don't know?! Am I getting stupider as I speak. I think so, because the words often come out all wrong, and portraying abstract ideas are not as easy as one may think. The positive side is that the medium level on IQ test goes down, so, many that have scored lower will be getting higher scores (I believe IQ tests are based upon the medium IQ of the population). Maybe it's time for a technocrazy? Anyway, my attention span are getting shorter when being force fed TV, and constantly skimming the internet for cat memes. But they are adorable, and I want to hug them all. Isn't that a nicer trait than intelligence? Intelligence is frowned upon, because of the conception that you can not trust smart people. But very smart people show more signs of utilitarianism. Or, at least, that's what they claim themselves... Not meaning to troll. just rambling on with a humorous mood. Disclaimer: I mean no harm. ...nothing at all. (just having a good time. Let me know if it isn't fun).
