Listener´s Train of Thoughts: With this simple trick, you can motivate people to do anything!

As I wrote in my introduction post I would like to share with you my management soft skills. Here I want to show you, how you can motivate people to do something!
A good communication is essential in every human relation. The Listener´s Train of Thoughts can help you in both, your professional and your private life
You probably experienced the following feeling several times in your life, too:
You have a great idea and you want others to listen to it. Or you want to motivate someone to do something. Unfortunately, no one cares and you just feel frustrated and upset.
The main reason for your failure is probably that you approached other people talking from your own point of view without taking into consideration what your interlocutor might find interesting and the reasons for it.
The trick of the Listener's Train of Thoughts helps you to put the listener in the center of your argumentation line. By doing so, it forces you to previously understand the position of your conversation partner and to build your argumentation around it. This will automatically make what you are saying extremely interesting for your interlocutor.
In fact, the Listener's Train of Thoughts is one of the most used communication techniques by sales men and motivators worldwide. You will soon notice that nearly every advertisement or tv spot will follow this simple trick!
So, if you want to motivate people to do what you want, you should use the technique of the Listener’s Train of Thoughts!
These are the 1+7 steps of the Listener's Train of Thoughts:
Step 0: Who is your interlocutor?
Be emphatic with your interlocutor – after all, you want him to do something. Ask yourself the following questions:
- Who do I talk to?
- What does he/she like about the thing, I want to talk about?
- Which should be my core statement?
- Which keywords should I use for getting his/her attention?
Step 1: The opening
Here you must say, what the talk will be about. Use the keyword of your core statement.
E.g.: “Hi, I would like to quickly show you, how you can easily motivate someone to do something.”
Step 2: Address the listeners’ need
What is the need of the reader you want solve? How can you address this need?
E.g.: “You probably experienced the following feeling several times in your life, too: You have a great idea and you want others to listen to it but no one cares and you just feel upset."
Step 3: Present the solution
What is the solution to the problem? Name it!
E.g.: “The Listener's Train of Thoughts will help you, to become immediately a perfect motivator.”
Step 4: Name the advantages for your interlocutor?
Which are the advantages for your interlocutor, if he/she will use your idea/product?
E.g.: “The Listener's Train of Thoughts will automatically make what you are saying extremely interesting for your interlocutor.”
Step 5: Name evidences to demonstrate you are right!
Can you name numbers, dates and facts to reinforce my statements? If yes, do so!
E.g.: “The Listener's Train of Thoughts is one of the most used communication techniques by sales men and motivators worldwide. You will notice that nearly every advertisement or tv-spot will follow this simple trick!”
Step 6: Recap
Briefly recap what you said until now: Step 2 + Step 3 = Step 4!
E.g.: “o, if you want to motivate people to do what you want, you should use the technique of the Listener’s Train of Thoughts!”
Step 7: Next steps
How is it going on? What are the next steps in which you can support the listener? Telephone numbers, contact data, e-mail addresses or application forms are used in this step.
