All About Solar Powered cars

The development of progress and the preservation of the environment have become the main catalysts for the invention of solar cars. They have pros and cons, but have not yet taken hold in practice for a number of reasons.

Most important features:
The operating principle is based on the conversion of solar energy into electrical energy. The latter becomes an energy source for the electric motor installed on the car. Connecting such an engine, auxiliary electronics responsible for full operation in different driving modes, and a number of batteries providing power reserve will bring the car closer to the usual one.

The first car based on solar batteries was made in the mid-20th century. This event took place in the United States. But at the time, there was no technology to make powerful batteries. The batteries produced were of low capacity, which halted development of this area. In the 90s of the last century, new attempts to design "solar" cars appeared. Thanks to the increased efficiency of batteries, the inventors managed to significantly increase the amount of energy generated. Energy-guzzling batteries can provide the amount of engine power needed to cover long enough distances.
The use of innovative materials for making car bodies, improving transmissions, generator sets have had a positive impact. The bodies are made of lightweight and durable plastic elements. The transmission contains parts with the lowest rolling resistance. Brushless motors are used instead of conventional electric motors. The composition includes poles made of magnetic rare earth alloys. Some manufacturers install in-wheel motors - power sources that are located on the driving wheels. Such a system sometimes increases the efficiency of the transmission mechanism. The power reserve of solar energy as a whole has increased due to the output of flexible batteries. Utilities, they can be mounted on any element of the body. WHAT ARE
SOLAR CAR Almost every major car company is working on the invention of the ideal solar car. The most famous are the offspring.

Venturi

The car of this French company Ecletic has a power of 22 hp. It can travel about 50 km without recharging at a speed of up to 50 km/h. It uses an emergency power source, a wind turbine. In addition, the machine can be charged via the mains. Another of his inventions is the auto Astrolab. This model has a power of 16 kW and a speed of 120 km/h. The weight is 300 kg and the battery is located on the roof.

ENDHOEN UNIVERSITY Local engineers have created a futuristic Stella family car. The power reserve is 600 km. The body parts here are made of aluminum.

GREEN GT
The Swiss have contributed to the progress. Their invention Solar World GT has a power of 400 hp. The car can accelerate to 275 km/h.

The production of solar vehicles is also carried out on the territory of the Russian Federation. In St. Petersburg, a device weighing 200 kg was created, which is due to the use of a lightweight composite for the construction of the body. Externally, the model resembles a catamaran and is characterized by the ability to accelerate to 150 km/h.

The market leaders are the Japanese. Their solar-powered Tokai Challenger 2 car won the race in 2011. The body is made of carbon fiber. The mass of the car is only 140 kg and the speed reaches 160 km/h. It is equipped with batteries from the well-known company Panasonic.

PROS AND CONS
Solar powered machines have positive properties:
Environmental safety and lack of limitations in power source stock; compact dimensions,
long life expectancy; no need to refuel at special stations;
low operating costs (free refueling).
Not without its drawbacks that outweigh the benefits. This includes the high cost and inability to launch mass production, reduced power and speed compared to conventional cars. There are no workshops for the maintenance of these machines in the world yet.

ELECTRIC SOLAR VEHICLES IN PRACTICE

These machines have not been used in practice. This is complicated by the cost of a car and the low efficiency of solar batteries. Not all motorists are willing to spend a few million dollars for a defective car.
The development of new technologies contributes to the improvement of solar vehicles. They have already become compact and light. To equip them, flexible solar panels were used. A certain Venezuelan company promises to produce solar-powered cars and light trucks. For now, these are just promises, but experts are confident in the future of these machines.
The energy of the sun is an inexhaustible and renewable resource that, if used correctly, opens up endless possibilities for humanity.
