SOLSASPRAY (a modifed starch which produced by PT. Starch Solution Internasional) for spray starch application
What’s the general quality problem of native tapioca starch for spray starch application?
The general problem of native tapioca starch as follows :
1.Viscosity inconsistency
2.Viscosity breakdown under storage
3.A reduction of viscosity in alkaline condition
- High microbial organisms
- Unexpected foreign contamination
6.Yellowish suspension in alkaline condition
Viscosity Break Down:
Mainly effected by SO2 content
Starch molecules can be degraded by SO2 resulting in lower paste viscosity
Degree of degradation depends on SO2 content
Lower viscosity starch affects to binding power
Solsaspray contains minimum level of SO2 content, then maximize binding power
Alkaline Resistance
Most common native tapioca starch peak viscosity reduced after prolong stirred in alkaline condition
We found peak viscosity of starch is reduced after stirred with NaOH solution for 24 hrs
Solsaspray peak viscosity only slightly reduced under same alkaline condition
Microbial organism content:
Hygiene and cleaning program is key to achieve to reduce microbial organisms content
Solsaspray produced under clean and controlled environment to achieve the standard.
What is Solsaspray ?
Solsaspray is Modified Tapioca Starch Ester .Special design for spraying Starch Application.
Solsaspray has low gelatinizing temperature.
Easily to distribute to the furnish of fibers.
Solsaspray Vs Native Starch:
Advantage:
Viscosity consistency
Less Microbial Contamination
High Starch Retention
Low Gelatinized temperature
Less Impurities
Starch distribution more even.
Summary:
Papermaking has become increasingly complex, paper quality has improved, and paper machines have become faster and wider, and the impact of downtime and off-grade paper has become very costly to the paper mills.
Solsaspray has lower gelatinisation temperature than native starch which Solsaspray between 58 – 59 deg C and native starch around 64 – 65 deg C
The previous condition above will leads to some advantage as follows:
- Lower starch usage to achieve similar quality
- Improvement in the white water quality
- Reduction downtime and improve paper quality
- Improvement in wastewater discharge quality
