First commercial render on SONM

in #sonm7 years ago (edited)

SONM successfully tested RedShift render on 6 GPU Ethereum mining rig at Mining Union.

While preparing for the MVP release on the 25th of December, we split team to do some additional tasks as payload examples.

A small team led by product owner Eugene Manaev was preparing a render show case with a commercial rendering engine. We planned this surprise for Christmas, but some additional research and work were required, so we decided to launch it directly on a mining rig. Finally, we have results to share.

Today QA and support teams successfully launched RedShift on real 6 GPU mining rig at Mining Union (the same rig I wrote about yesterday).

Here are some screenshots. First showing task deployment:

This one with some stats:

And then we have the picture. This is the RedShift test scene:

We will continue this work to make a case of parallel render over a set of mining rigs (to speed process). There are existing commercial software components for this kind of tasks, so we are conducting some more research and experiments. At the same time, Eugene as a product owner makes his record of the required SONM platform features to support the required capabilities.

We see this as a showcase, as an example, other people may find it attractive to make some render business on top of SONM platform.

Perhaps, one of the commercial render developers may see this as a future of their software, in this case, we could have an interesting work together.

We will provide additional details, numbers and comparison later. Stay tuned.
