Carnival 🎀🎉
February and March is the time of carnivals in many places . Spain is not exclusion .
Last year at this time I visited carnival in Orense , región Galicia in Spain .
I was in some small village among mountains , maybe poor , yes , everything looks not modern at all , at least it was very modest , but carnaval - suits of native inhabitants were perfect.
I spoke to some people they told that carnaval-suit for them are very important . Every family try to have some expansive and beautiful , and care of the suit for ages and can pas from father to son.
The traditional suit of this area - peliqueiro . Men put on the dress of peliqueiro , they take up sticks with a turning part at the end, and run along the main street of the village, rapidly rotating these sticks, with grandiose noise. Noise creates metal parts of their suits. The main thing is not to hit under the blows of their lashes. it will hurt.
The suit is really amazing .. Mask with the face of some animal , very huge .. long-socks , white , handmade , any fashionable woman would be jealous of such socks 🤩😍 white handmade shirt , colourful pantalones .. Wow 😍❤️
The inhabitants didn’t tell me exactly history of this mask and suit . One of them spoke about Ancient Rome , the tradition to run along the street and hit people with lashes . Another told about Celts , who were lived in all this area many centuries .. By the way you can find here many signs of Celts : stories , traditions , pictures , stone-sign , boats , even witches ))) yes , they still burn witches every years .. Doll-witch , it is good that not alive women ))
Who knows from where all these traditions .. As for me to much mix between Old Rome, Celts and Christianity .. And it makes this place very special and not similar to no one place in the world 🤗🤩
The people from village said the good suit of peliqueiro costs more than 2000 evro .
After carnaval all of them went to small tavernas and had fiesta . I don’t know exactly what they drink, some traditional alcohol drink - but for me it was very strong 😉🤪 so my special carnaval-cup was almost all time empty 🤗
this looks awesome!!! I seriously could do with my energy and soul level being picked up right now as I'm not in the best of places, but, thank you for sharing as it certainly made me smile looking at all the crazy costumes and variety of people enjoying themselves.

the carnival looks interesting! especially the costumes. Do you know the story behind the carnival? I would love to know why they celebrate it.
in general, some features of the carnival have come down to us from the time of paganism. And in the current form of carnivals began to be held from the 10th century, in Venice
I see. So it’s a type of celebration. Thanks ☺️
Hey @fedrarosi
Thanks )))
Their village walaupum is small and poor, but they are very passionate about celebrating the carnival day, meaning they still respect the cultural customs.
