I agree and like to think of this internal/external whole you are writing about, but in a slightly different way/interpretation. I study my dreams and think of how the night thoughts/reality are no greater or less than the waking dream I experience and in doing this there's a greater conversation and blurring of lines between different states--the "dimensionality" you write about.
As a writer, I love this: "Writing, for example, is a portal between the ethereal thought realm and physical reality. The act of writing is literally the act of solidifying a thought form."
