Welcome to my weekly instalment of Dai’s Super 6 (powered by Dai's Datasheets). 6 games across all of Europe that I believe should be on every betting slip this weekend. I delve deep into 22 separate European football leagues weekly and pick out the best performers to give you the best chance of a return on your investment. Betting on a 6-match accumulator, at the time of writing this blog, returns 14/1.
I dig deeper into the rationale behind each prediction below.
Scottish League 1 - Raith Rovers v Forfar
Prediction: Raith Rovers Win @ 1/4
Raith Rovers have a 100% win success rate at home this season (9 from 9 games), and sit in second place in the league. Only two points off league leaders Ayr, who better to play than bottom of the table Forfar. Forfar have lost 70% of games played away this season, and have a -27 goal aggregate (to Raith’s +25). It should be a cut and dry encounter on paper, with the home side taking away all 3 points.
Spanish La Liga - A Madrid v Getafe
Prediction: A Madrid Win @ 2/5
It’s second against eighth in this encounter, with 13 points separating both teams in the table. Madrid have won 58.82% of games this season, compared to Getafe’s 35.29%, with Madrid not losing a single game at home so far. Getafe are astute at earning draws away from home, drawing 50% of all away games this season, but I think Madrid won’t want to lose any more ground on league leaders Barcelona and as such will gift their fans with a win come Saturday lunchtime.
Italian Serie A - Roma v Atalanta
Prediction: Roma Win @ 8/11
Roma come into this game with a 70% win success rate at home, 66.67% overall. Atalanta’s away record is poor, winning just 22.22% of games played away (and losing 44.44%). 12 points separate them in the league, with Roma locked in a tight battle for a Champions League qualifying position. It’s now the business half of the season and games like this are a must win for the home side if they have any aspirations of competing at the highest level next year.
English FA Cup - Manchester City v Burnley
Prediction: Over 3.5 Goals Scored @ 6/5
All stats are thrown out the window for this encounter as it’s a cup game, anything can happen. Manchester City come into this game with one of the best overall records in Europe this season and are vastly improved on last. Burnley will surely want to push City to the limit, without fear of dropping points and will see this encounter as their opportunity to cause a potential upset. With squad rotation set to play a part, I still think City have bags of goals in them, with Burnley having potential to net a goal or two themselves.
English FA Cup - Tottenham v AFC Wimbledon
Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals Scored @ 2/5
Similar to the above, this is a cup game and anything can happen. Tottenham playing at Wembley this season, with their new stadium under development, will make this encounter feel even more like a cup final for lowly AFC Wimbledon and fans and players alike will see this as a fantastic day out. I expect an upset coming for the home fans (in terms of conceding a goal) but firmly believe Tottenham will come out victorious (potentially winning 2 or maybe 3-1). Over 2.5 goals scored seems like a fairly reasonable bet on this fixture to me.
Portugese Liga I - Moreirense v Benfica
Prediction: Over 2.5 Goals Scored @ 8/13
The home team sit in 14th place in the league, welcoming 3rd placed Benfica. Not only is there a vast difference in points separating these two teams, but a huge goal aggregate difference (-12 to +27). Benfica have been involved in 56.25% of games this season where more than 2.5 goals have been scored. I expect them to add to this statistic come Sunday, while taking all 3 points away also. To play it safe though, I’ve settled on over 2.5 goals scored only in this game as my safe prediction.
