The very average record of Emery against Real

in #sport7 years ago (edited)

Former coach of FC Sevilla, Valencia or Almeria, Unai Emery has crossed Real Madrid 20 times already in his career, in official matches. For 14 setbacks.

"I do not think this is the worst draw possible, we have the level to face them in the Champions League, we necessarily face the best.We are happy to challenge them. They have talent, but we too.My team is ready for this match. " Thus reacted Unai Emery, this Monday on beIn Sports, after the draw for the knockout stages of the Champions League which has reserved a shocking PSG against Real Madrid.

As a Spanish technician, the Parisian coach knows better than anyone what such a confrontation represents, who in his career has crossed the white house 20 times in official matches. For a more than mixed record of five wins, a draw and 14 losses! Only Barça has inflicted more setbacks in his life strategist. More worrying, on February 14, PSG will go to a den Bernabeu where Emery has never won, in 11 previous (10 defeats for a small draw 0-0 signed with Valencia in April 2012).

At the head of Valencia precisely, the Basque has won twice against Real, as much with Sevilla FC - his latest success in November 2015 (3-2), if we except this friendly match won in the Champion of the Champions Cup in July 2016, just one month after arriving on the Parisian bench (3-1). The main feat of arms of Unai Emery in front of the Merengues remains however this victory obtained in February 2008 while he officiated in Almeria (2-0). What remains to this day the greatest feat of the small Andalusian club in Liga.
