RUNING ON THE SEA SANDY BEACH.
Probably, in the subconscious, each of us has a cliche of Hollywood movies, about running into the sunset along the seashore. In addition to obvious physical benefits, such a run is a pleasure: the rustle of waves, a pleasant wind, an excellent view. For a long time I could not do it with full regular jogging on the beach: either far, or many people, or there is not enough distance. But this year everything was perfect, so I enjoy jogging on the sandy beach with nice views. A few remarks about the technique in this article.
The beach in the Thai city of Hua Hin (Kao Takiab district), where we stayed, is ideal for jogging. First, a continuous clean beach line between two mountains about 20 kilometers without a single hedge, coniferous trees, golf clubs and parks near the beach line. The width of the beach varies depending on whether the tide is now or low tide.
Running barefoot. If desired, at low tide, you can run and barefoot, since a part of the beach without shells opens, the chance for it to step is minimal. However, considerable concentration is required to constantly look under your feet. Tires, but time flies quickly.
The uppermost part of the beach is dry sand. But the greater part of the beach is a solid, moist sand with a slight slope. This sand is so hard that you can ride it on a bicycle and even by car. In terms of running, these two types of sand are significantly different. So on one beach I can alternate both kinds of loads.
On dry sand, in which the legs are stuck, you can train the feet. Dry sand - an unstable surface for running, which means, it gives an additional load to the muscles of the legs and the whole body. It is established that running on dry sand significantly increases aerobic load and allows burning about one and a half times more calories than during running on a flat hard ground. Keep in mind that the extra load when running on dry sand can lead to injuries - it's easy to tuck your leg up.
By dense wet sand it's easier to run - it can be used as an alternative to the soil, which I actually do. Yes, the local beach, like many other beaches, has a small gentle slope to the sea. Running in only one direction is not a good idea, especially when running for a long time. Therefore, run either along the top edge of dry smooth sand or run in both directions.
