How to run a Sub 38 minute 10k (training plan) - My road to winning a 10k Running Race
So, I have been running for about 2 years now...
So far its been going great; my PB's are (5k - 17:34 and 10k - 38:36) not bad for a 17 year old right ?!
However, I just failed to get into the Yorkshire running team by 17 seconds because I stupidly decided to choose trail shoes for a muddy XC course, i'm a idiot I know.
I have a trail 10k coming up in two weeks and I expect a time of 38 minutes resulting in a win !, but I thought I'd document and share my journey up until the race for anyone interested in what training for a well under sub 40 10k looks like.
Firstly I plan to run 6 days this week, resting today (Monday) my plan is as follows:
Tuesday - 12 x 400m intervals at 3:25/k pace.
Wednesday - 11km easy run
Thursday - 12km tempo run at 4:05/k pace
Friday - 10km easy run
Saturday - 7km lactate threshold run
Sunday - 16km Long run (with hills)
I believe this is the best way to train for a 10k, leave any questions in the comments below !
Whoa... that's some nice Speed! I'm looking forward to seeing your posts about your training... and victories!
