STEEM Cup Series Contest

Race Information

Federated Auto Parts 400
Saturday, September 9, 2017 – 7:30pm ET
Richmond Raceway – Richmond, Virginia

The Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series will be in Virginia this week for the Federated Auto Parts 400. Richmond Raceway is an oval short-track with a length of only 0.75 miles. The race is scheduled for 400 laps, with two 100-lap stages and one final 200-lap stage to determine the race winner. This is the last race for NASCAR’s “regular-season.” Next week will begin the playoff series of races to determine the 2017 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series winner.

The top-5 places in the Series haven’t changed since last week. Martin Truex Jr. still strongly holds the top spot with an even 1000 points. Kyle Busch sits in second place with 893 points and Kyle Larson is still third with 884. Kevin Harvick and Denny Hamlin continue to hold fourth and fifth with 867 and 785 points, respectively. Denny Hamlin was last year’s Federated Auto Parts 400 winner.

The current weather forecast for Sunday’s race time in Richmond has temperatures in the low 70s with no expected precipitation.

You can find the drivers’ updated qualifying times/positions prior to race time at the following link: NASCAR Race Center.

Driver Selections and Points

Each contestant will choose three drivers for the weekly STEEM Cup Series from the field of qualifying drivers. Based on the number of drivers and the final results of the race, drivers will be assigned points as follows:

ResultsPoints Awarded
1st place40
2nd place39
3rd place38
......
38th place3
39th place2
40th place1

Once these points are tallied, they will be divided by 2. After the points are divided, the following bonus points will be awarded/deducted:

+10 points for unique driver combinations. If two or more contestants select the same drivers, then only the first contestant to post those selections will earn the bonus points. ENTRIES THAT ARE NOT UNIQUE DRIVER COMBINATIONS WILL NOT BE ELIGIBLE FOR ANY OF THE ADDITIONAL BONUS POINTS.

+15 points for the race winner.

+3 points for each driver finishing the race ahead of MY DRIVER.

My selected driver for the Monster Energy NASCAR All-Star Race is: MARTIN TRUEX JR.
Contestants cannot choose MARTIN TRUEX JR. as one of their drivers for this race.

How to Play and Win

  1. In a comment on this post, submit the full names of your three drivers. ONLY ONE COMMENT SUBMISSION PER USER, PER WEEKLY CONTEST.

  2. Submissions will be confirmed and locked in at the start of the weekly race. ALL CONTEST SUBMISSIONS MUST BE ENTERED PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED START TIME OF THE RACE. Late submissions and any edits after that time will be automatically disqualified from the weekly contest.

  3. There will be three winners each week. The winners will be the contestants with the most points gained, based on the points distribution outlined in Driver Selections. All point totals earned from all contestants will carry over for the monthly and season-long contests.

  4. The contest is funded with a minimum pot of 10 SBD. The total weekly pot distribution will be divided as follows:

PlaceRewards Percentage
1st50%
2nd30%
3rd20%

In the event of a tie, the true point total (non-rounded value of total points) will be used in an attempt to break the tie. If a tie remains, then the pot will be split between the tying contestants.

Hamlin should of been DQ in last weeks event since it failed post race suspension. I know some are going to say the term was encumbered, which is PC bull crap ! Notice his crew chief was fined.. Stay safe from Irma if you live in that area.

AHHHHHH so close! That has to be the closest ever bunch at the top!!

Yeah, you did great!

Unfortunately, Martin Truex Jr. is the My Driver selection for this week, so you'll need to choose another driver if you want the points for your selection.

The idea is very interesting, the way of writing is also very neat. @ats-david
