Mike Ashley the current owner of Newcastle is not by any chance deterred with the current Covid-19 crisis bedeviling the entire world and most especially his area of specialization, Football.

Ashley is set to strike a deal that is somewhat impossible to achieve. Impossible in the sense that, the sale of a club as big as Newcastle in this present era of Corona virus pandemic is without question nearly impossible. A consortium based in Saudi Arabia want to buy Newcastle FC from Mike Ashley. In fact, reports has it that Ashley is on the verge of selling the club to the Arabian consortium is headed by the Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The prince is said to be the main mover behind the bid to purchase Newcastle United from Ashley. It has been reported that the takeover plans will see the Saudi Consortium acquire an 80 per cent stake in the club for the sum of 300m Pounds.

Reports has it that, the English tabloids are having a great the of fun at the moment. The fun stems from the possibility that the new owners may experience a great deal of financial windfall in the event the deal went through. With no end in sight when the Corona virus scourge will come to an end, no one will blame the tabloids for thinking along such lines.
With current form of Newcastle FC, there is the need for the future owners to purchase complete set of players to be injected into the club. The tabloids also made mention that talks are ongoing with Rafael Benitez for coaching position. Benitez was said to have agreed for a comeback, considering that he was once the Manager of the Magpies.

In my opinion, it will be better for the Saudi Consortium to seek for Maurice Pochettino is currently free of contract since his departure from Tottenham. In fact, there are other alternative managers they can pick at will. Candidates who could potentially take the club to high heavens. Candidates such as Stephen Gerrard and Massimiliano Allegri are experienced Managers that can fit in comfortably i am sure.

It is only the bold that will want to spend huge sums of money in this uncertain times by buy a club or any deal in that kind of magnitude for that matter. For the consortium to enter a deal at this critical moment, one can only but think that they have something special up their sleeves. Otherwise, if the pandemic transcends this year, it is nearly impossible for one not to surmise that the deal will eventually go sour.

As for Ashley, if the deal went through successfully, that may probably be the best thing that can happen to anyone in the current state football and many other sports are at. But whatever the outcome, i wish both parties an amicable settlement and success in their collective and separate ventures.
