Ladies Are Taking Cowboy Action Shooting To A Whole New Level
Howdy folks and greetings from the Great Plains of North Texas!
I reckon that title is kind of a dumb statement ain't it? I mean, any field that women enter improves it! lol. They bring a classiness that men just don't have and they create a much more interesting show.
This little post is actually just a continuation of the PS I put on my last post where I mentioned a young lady in Cowboy Action Shooting by the name of Jessica Kirkham.
But the PS was getting longer than the actual post and that looked retarded so I dropped it and made this one.
Cowboy Action added a riding event
The Cowboy Action Shooting competitions are fun to watch because they added a Mounted category a few years ago which adds a whole nother element and also attracted many of the Cowgirls to the competition.
It's a combination of barrel racing, sprinting, and shooting a Colt 45 or a lever action rifle at balloon targets and of course the event is based on time and accuracy of the shots.
This sounds like a natural for the ladies doesn't it? lol. They've taken it by storm!
Here's reigning world and national champion Annie Bianco Ellett:
CMSA stands for Cowboy Mounted Shooting Association.
She goes by the moniker "Outlaw Annie." I could fill a page with her titles.
Women now comprise 50% of the competition and that's mainly due to Annie's tireless work to encourage and train other ladies.
Here she is again, I love this event because it depends as much on the horse as the rider:
It's so refreshing to see so many ladies in the competition now. Before it was mostly a bunch of grungy old cowboys. lol.
Now the ladies are giving it real class:
Yeah, I think the sport will make it now.
I've never seen skulls on a cowgirl shirt before. New breed.
They ain't playin around either, the ladies above are all champion shooters. They're smart, tough, dedicated and highly skilled.
Here's a few more shots of the mounted competition because I can't get enough horse photos. The heavy smoke is because all firearms used must be pre 1889 style so they're using black powder.
The horses love it and they don't mind the gun blast. Well, obviously some horses don't like it so those that don't aren't in this type of event.
Outlaw Annie again, you can see the target in this one:
Rifle competition takes more skill in that you have to use both hands to shoot. The horses are awesome.
Here's a champion from a few years ago named Kendra. I love the way the dust lights up in this shot:
Yeah, when these Texas girls find out they get to ride AND shoot in the same competition they're like.."Where do I sign up?" lol.
The sport is big and getting bigger because of them. They'll probably take it over in a few years.
Here's the video from yesterday's post of Jessica Kirkham tearing it up. It gives you a little taste of the events using Old West firearms.
Thanks for reading folks, God bless you all!

Texas
Girl power! The feminists are loving it.
Howdy sirbearbear! Yeah, they're thriving in this niche and blowing away alot of the men!
Hey what's your profile image? I can't make out what it is.
Wonderful sport!! I always want to learn to ride a horse!
Oh very cool sir kaminchan, I hope you get the chance some day! How did you like the video of the Cowboy Action Shooting?
I might be mistaken, but the best Marine Corps shooters at the Range were held by women (240+ out if 250 possible) and Ann Oakley is still the best.
Oh that is very interesting indeed! I had no idea. Yes I have Annie Oakley as one of my history series personalities that I want to write about, she was amazing!
Horses 🥰 women riders 👌

That's a wonderful combination. lol.. Throw in guns and it's perfection! lol..I know many people don't understand guns though but the women and horses are palatable all over the world!

Shooting anything on a moving horse is difficult, nevermind a pistol. The Mongols were the first to get really good at it with bows and look what they managed. Maybe these ladies will start the next golden horde.
lol..yes very true sir abitcoinskeptic. Our American Indians were experts at shooting with a bow while riding too. With so many ladies getting involved I think the sport is going to continue to grow.

This is great! We need much more of this. Nationwide!
I think the sport is growing so we may see it all over eventually, I agree, it's awesome!
Go girls - it is great is women can do whatever they enjoy doing - I think I would love to live in a place like Texas.
It's a great state and unless the socialists get there way and change the culture, we love our liberty and freedoms.
I loved horses as a youngster and my dream then was to be a cowgirl. These women rock!
Oh that is so cool redheadpei, you should have moved to Texas! Aren't these ladies amazing? wow.
