The Sheffield-born boxer has gained a significant amount of weight since retiring from boxing 13 years ago at the age of 28.
Hamed was spotted hugging his wife of 20 years, Eleasha, while on a shopping trip in Knightsbridge.
The former fighter, who stands at just 5ft 4, became Britain's youngest world champion in 1995, beating Steven Robinson to win the WBO featherweight title aged just 21.
He went on to win 36 of his 37 career bouts before retiring in 2002, citing chronic problems with his hands as the reason behind his decision.
In 2006 he hit the headlines for all the wrong reasons when he was involved in a high-speed car crash which left another driver seriously injured.
Anthony Burgin, the injured motorist, suffered breaks to every major bone in his body and also sustained bruising to the brain.
Hamed was given a four-year driving ban and sentenced to 15 months in prison but was released on 4 September 2006 after just 16 weeks.
