England beat Panama 6-1 and look to the knockout

in #sports7 years ago

England inflicted a nice 6-1 in Panama on Sunday, the second day of Group G of the 2018 World Cup. Harry Kane scored a hat-trick, including two penalty goals. There will be a final for the first place against Belgium.

Boring, this England? The Three Lions passed through a mouse hole Monday against Tunisia (2-1) and deserved these doubts. And paradoxically, even after this 6-1 against Panama, we can not be dithyrambic about the quality of play of the men of Gareth Southgate. If they have been in complete control, they owe it to a great success. Everything came back, absolutely everything, obviously to make envy of Brazil, Germany or Spain (to name just a few) that galore - even worse - against other teams curled up on their goal .

Harry Kane takes the lead alone in this year's 2018 World Cup scorers with five goals. Regarding his hat trick of the day, two goals were scored on penalty, and the third of a completely involuntary deviation of the heel ... Everyone could finish this match very happy, even if the Panamanians would probably have preferred to avoid a suitcase. But at 6-0 against them, they managed to save the honor in the last quarter of an hour. By being able to quickly open the scoring, and especially to lead 5-0 at half-time, the English were thus allowed to avoid a remake of Tunisia.

It was John Stones who unlocked the lead (1-0, 8th), before doubling his personal counter for 4-0 in the 40th minute. In the meantime, Kane converted his first penalty for 2-0 in the 22nd, then Jesse Lingard had managed one of the only real good gestures of the game leading the 3-0, in the 36th minute. Just before the break, a second Kane penalty was fearing the worst for Panama (5-0, 45th + 1). But there was therefore 1-1 in the second half, with Kane's last goal (6-0, 62) and Baloy's goal in favor of the Panamanians (6-1, 78th).

In case of a draw Thursday, between Belgium and England, it is fair play that will determine the first and second (both teams are qualified with six points). Indeed, both selections are each with eight goals scored and two conceded. It is therefore the cards that can decide, with a weighting according to the severity of the sanctions (from the yellow card to the direct red card after a first yellow, through the two warnings or the simple red direct). For the moment, the English have the advantage: only one yellow card in two matches, against three Belgian side.
