Connor Mcdavid Huge Contract

The Edmonton oilers have paid a huge but I would argue very fair price for the future best player in the game. Now they have to figure out a way to get Leon Draisaitl a new contract and this team will be set for the next decade. McDavid & Draisaitl if signed will be the next Crosby/Malkin & Kane/Toews duo. 100M sounds like a lot which it obviously is but in reality McDavid took a pay cut similar to what Crosby did. That extra couple million in salary cap will allow the Oilers to get that special role player who will be able to put them over the edge in the next couple years and hopefully win a cup. I put McDavid in the Crosby, Lebron, Durant bucket and regardless of what they are paid it will never be market value. This is the type of guy that comes around once every decade or so and takes the league by storm.

Next this team really needs to shore up their defense and get bigger. They made strides last year and were also able to get rid of some deadweight (Eberle). Even trading Nugent Hopkins might not be a mad choice if they get something fairly good in return or if they can replace his salary with a big name free agent. Either way the future is looking bright for this team and Canada might actually have a team that can win the Stanley cup. Let me know what you think of this deal and the future of the league!
