“ Is Cleveland Cavaliers a cursed team?”: A mystery sinced Lebron went back to the team
Majority of us Filipinos are avid sports fans, specifically basketball. Basketball has became a part of our lives since it is now considered as the national sport especially if you’re talking about Lebron James and his team the great Cleveland Cavaliers.
It’s a clear indicator that LeBron James had left an enormous mark to us Filipinos in terms of his aggressive playing style, physical demeanor and fierce personality might as well his team’s reputation. Based on the attributes shown , this player is indeed the best player in the world so far not mentioning the great Michael Jordan.
Furthermore, despite of his and the teams effort to win another title NBA title last year, the Golden State Warriors has easily brushed them off the NBA Finals in five(5) games. A lot of sports analysts and enthusiast had found the series unpredictable and so the season after that.
Entering the 2017-2018 season seems to be deviating for the team. From that lost to the Warriors last season must be a lesson should be learned from the team. Earlier this season, the team made a decisive but surprising move trading their all-star point guard Kyrie Irving to the Boston Celtics for 2-time All-Star Isaiah Thomas and Jae Crowder whom on the other hand had tremendously reached the heights of their potential in Boston. A month later they also added former MVP Derrick Rose who’s fresh from his productive stint with the New York Knicks and 2006 Finals MVP Dwayne Wade who after reached a buyout to the Chicago Bulls to join the Cavaliers.
Furthermore, no doubt the Cleveland team is clearly now a force can be reckon with in terms of statistical advantages and winning percentages. Funny how it seems that a team considerably the fiercest of them all (the entire NBA) came up short just the start of the 2017-2018 season recording only 34-22 win loss record.
Sadly, the performance of the newly acquired Star players has became futile both offensively and defensively. What happened to the once renowned Mr. 4th quarter Isaiah Thomas who nearly averages 30 points a game when he was in boston, former MVP and 3-time NBA all-star Derrick Rose and 12-time NBA all-star Dwayne Wade.
A thought immediately popped-out my mind, “there’s really something wrong with this team”.
Let us check few years back. In 2016 Cavs acquired 3-time NBA all-star Deron Williams out of the Dallas Mavericks, Andrew Bogut out of the Golden Warriors well we all know that Bogut won 2 championships at Golden State so he basically is in perfect shape, and Larry Sanders out of free agency. Unexpectedly, after these players played horribly for the team, they easily removed them from the roster. Like Derrick Rose, Isaiah Thomas,Deron Williams, Andrew Bogut, Dwayne Wade all good if not are excellent players had a good playing career before they joined the Cleveland Cavaliers but after their stint on the team if not waived or traded, after that their careers are slowly being deteriorated.
Who knows, the newly acquired players Jordan Clarkson, Larry Nance Jr., George Hill and Rodney Hood who played very well on their previous teams might be facing the same tragic fate like those players while they are still wearing the Cavaliers uniform.
Now, the real question is. “ Is Cleveland Cavaliers a cursed team?” … the question remains unanswered till now.
