Julen Lopetegui saw Real Madrid lose the UEFA Super Cup against Atletico Madrid in his first game in charge.
Saul Niguez scored a sensational volley to help earn Atletico Madrid a 4-2 UEFA Super Cup triumph in extra time against city rivals Real Madrid.

Diego Costa with a goal after 49 seconds, the fastest in Super Cup history, got Atletico off to a promising start.

But Karim Benzema's header and Sergio Ramos' penalty kick turned the tie around for Julen Lopetegui and his team.

Diego Costa hit again and sent the game to extra time.

In the extra time Saul's volley and Koke's finish wrapped up the first trophy of the season for Atletico.
