Chael Sonnen weighs in on what everyone is thinking: McGregor's injury is fake

When the UFC 303 main event got cancelled at near the 11th hour I was disappointed but not entirely surprised. What I was surprised about was the fact that Conor was being very quiet about it when we have grown accustomed to him shooting his mouth off on Twitter, misspellings and all. When his Tweet finally did come it was cordial, vague, professional, calm, and spelled correctly. So I had my doubts that there was any real truth to his supposed injury.

During the time the McGregor was genuinely injured with a seriously broken leg Conor went on to do other things that can be loosely defined as "whatever Conor wanted to do." This included having a go at being a movie star and yes, I watched Roadhouse and didn't think he was terrible, but I didn't think he was a character either... he was just playing himself, only sometimes naked.

During interviews and promotional stints for the film, Conor seemed, for lack of a better word, jacked as hell on drugs. Hollywood isn't MMA and well, if there was some cocaine going around, which I am told is what happens on films, Conor appeared to have taken at least his fair share of the stuff.

There was also the doping allegations that were being directed towards McGregor and there was also some talk that the USADA (United States anti Doping Association) had already busted him, but because of his importance to the UFC this was kept quiet. Special people get special treatment!

I don't believe that Conor McGregor is actually injured and the fact that nobody in his camp or with the UFC is giving any sort of specifics on his injury just makes this even more suspicious. I think that he failed the USADA tests and that UFC intentionally planted him at clubs in Dublin the night before the presser so that the public would draw their own conclusions and think that Conor is just a party boy now and that this is the real reason why it was called off when in reality it is a doping violation.

Chael Sonnen has a very popular YouTube channel and Podcast and this is partly because of the fact that he doesn't tow the company line at all because he no longer needs them. He is making tons of money doing his own thing and he speaks him mind accordingly. While there is speculation and even somewhat official announcements that the Chandler/McGregor fight will be rescheduled to later this year, Sonnen has this to say.

“McGregor’s not hurt, I don’t know if we’re making TV or how much we’re supposed to play along. Conor McGregor is not injured and it’s a very tough spot when he has the people that are coming out speaking for him that have been filled in, and they all sworn to secrecy. They don’t want to cover because the truth always comes out.

Sonnen also encouraged Chandler to move on because waiting for this payday can only make Michael's skills rusty. The problem that we face here is "move on to who?"

The Lightweight division is absolutely stacked right now. I would argue it is the best division in UFC right now. To give Chandler another run at the belt when he has already been given that recently. Since May of 2021, Chandler has lost to Olivira, Gaetje, and Poirier. So would it be at all fair to have him simply leapfrog all of them? It wouldn't make sense. However, this is the UFC where nothing makes sense as far as matches are concerned so let's not totally rule that one out at this point.

I think now would be a really good time for Conor to lay low and keep his fingers off of his Twitter screen. It honestly wouldn't surprise me if his handlers don't let him have a phone these days in order to protect both his own industry and also the behemoth that is UFC.

What do you think? Do you believe that Conor is genuinely injured or is this all a big coverup from UFC?
