Big Night for the Kings

The Kings are 1-2 since our last update, consistency is still a concern. But our L-10 is a very nice 6-3-1, and we have gained a point on the last wild card. We're no longer last in the conference. The abated turn around continues.

Last night the Kings beat the Oilers 4-0. Shut out. I caught the last period and the Kings looked great. The chemistry was really nice. Hagelin is back! I only caught the last period but Kovalchuk looked a lot younger than 35 years old. Wagner is getting his legs back, he has great wheels. Even Carter was showing enthusiasm. They had a great energy, it was a pleasure to watch! Carter and Toffoli had a goal each, that trend needs to continue.

Anze Kopitar got his 300th career goal with the Kings. I believe they said he is now 5th all time behind Bernie Nichols, Marcel Dionne, Luc Robitaille and Dave Taylor.

J Quick got his 300th victory with the Kings, and 51st shut out.

Dustin Brown passed Lucky Luc in games played and is second only to Dave Taylor. 34 more games and he will pass Taylor.

Our old friend Ken Hitchcock was coaching the Oilers and it was great to see his goofy faces after we scored on him.

Tomorrow at 1930 Pacific Standard Kings Time we play the Sharks, like always it should be a fantastic game, especially if the Kings show the same poise they did last night. Karlsson put that dirty hit on Wagner last game so this would be a great time to beat them bad. Our old friend Martin Jones will have his hands full.

Again, our advice to the Kings, screen the goalie and deflect the puck, maybe those goals aren't so pretty but who cares. Also, work on those one timers off the cross ice pass. Kovalchuk should take the lead on this and show the team how it's done.

All games are important but I would classify this one as being crucial in getting back on track. There's 39 games left to go. For the Kings to look so great last night without Alec Martinez made me proud.

FYI Doughty's streak will be 370 straight regular season games tomorrow night, a franchise record. Amazingly he's not even in the top 30 for the league record. GKG!

Drew Doughty made the All Star Team for the 5th straight year.
