Fedor Emelianenko -VS- Frank Mir post fight review
Last nights Bellator 198 main event was extremely exciting and fun for the short amount of time it lasted, both guys rocked each other and Fedor got the TKO finish all in just 48 seconds.
Both guys came out of the gate at full speed and started throwing bombs instantly, Mir lands a big punch that seems to rock Emelianenko and sends him backing up the fence. Mir followed him to the fence and started to land some clean shots in the clinch, Fedor then lands a beautiful hip toss and both guys then scrambled to their feet as fast as possible, Mir then lunged forward and was caught with a left hook from Fedor which dropped him instantly, Fedor pounced and secured the TKO victory 48 seconds into round number 1.

Fedor will now advance to the semi finals of the Heavyweight Grand prix and will face Chael Sonnen next, which is mental.
I never thought I would see them two fight and have never really thought about it either to be honest, but the more I think about, I think it's going to be a great fight.
Bellator is really heating up lately and I'm really enjoying the heavyweight tournament so far, I'm looking forward to the future of Bellators Heavyweight division, it could become the best big boy division in MMA today, obviously some work still needs to be done, but they are on the right path for sure.
It was a great card last night with lots of fun fights, it was a night where Jujitsu shined as there was submission stoppage after submission stoppage. I'll leave the full card highlights below.

Nice man so glad you posted about this. I was looking forward to this so much and have no one to talk about it too haha! But what a fight! 48 seconds of heavyweight madness! Just what I expected, and an old school true hw MMA fight! So much respect for these 2, they are absolute legends, big respect to Mir, he’s a pioneer and legend - and all time hw great. I think he might fight again.
Now Fedor vs sonnen!?!?! What the hell! I never thought I’d see that! But, is gona be fun as hell, I ant wait! One thing I was thinking, is imagine if Mir won, and Frank Mir vs sonnen sounds even crazier Haha!!! But Fedor vs sonnen is nuts. Plus, respect to bellator for bringing it. Those entrances were epic and well deserved for these legends. Sort of emotional seeing these two fight after being a big MMA fan for over 15 years now.
On another note, do you think bellator will book Liddell vs Ortiz 3? What you think about that? My heart wants it but my head doesn’t. Haha
Haha I enjoyed it loads man, It had a real old school feel to it. Fedor looks a little more comfortable in the cage now, he still has some bad habits from fighting in a ring in japan. I'm looking forward to the Sonnen fight loads now, Bellator is seriously gathering traction.

I know it’s crazy to see sonnen fighting heavyweights, Fedor makes more sense than Mir. Chael is only like 215-220 and Mir at 262 is nuts, Fedor and chael more the same size. I guess it shows how much weight fighters cut!
Yea man you are right. Tito calling out an older out of fighting chuck is a bit pussy really. If it was 4 years or so ago I would have been up for it, but I don’t wana see chuck fight at 48... I think he might still ko Tito though haha. It was like when shamrock fought Gracie, it just wasn’t that cool... I love ken but 53 or so in the cage probably isn’t good
Hahah man I 100000% agree about Shamrock/Gracie, that was actually a disgrace. I'm glad Bellator has started to get away from that, sort of haha. Yeah Fedor is probably the best match up for Chael, which is wild.

Things should be fun between Fedor and Chael, you just know Chael is going to be talking all kinds of shit in the build up while Fedor sits around looking like he's waiting for a bus.
Interesting to see Dillon Danis winning too, he is trying way too much to be like Conor and looks like he took some big punches but his ground game is really awesome.

Ha thanks man, that is what I think every time I see Fedor. Always admired him for it too, he doesn't care about anything.
It's a shame he never signed for the UFC.

I did a topic on the same event. I am so conflicted on who I want to win Sonnen or Fedor. Sonnen is hilarious and if you take a look at his resume it's crazy the amount of talented fighters he has faced. And Fedor is .... Fedor.
As for the main event of Bellator 198 and my short brake down of both Fedor and Frank. I think both of their chins are almost completely gone. I also felt as if Fedor cardio isn't up to par anymore. To me it looked as if he was gassed and the fight lasted less then 50 seconds.
As for the upcoming fight between Sonnen and Fedor. I think this is the best possible match up for Fedor in the whole tournament. Sonnen is not known for his KO power and I think Fedor chin is still good enough to hold up to Chael's punches. We seen Sonnen over powered by Rashad Evans and Jon Jones and I believe Fedor is stronger then both of them. Sonnen has his work cut out for him but if he can survive a round or two I think he can potentially tire Fedor and win via decision possibly submission if not .. Fedor wins vis KO.
Yeah man I can see it going the same way actually, it's a hard to predict, I'm on the fence. I don't think either of them will win the whole tourney, but it'll be fun seeing one of them try anyway.

Great jiu-jitsu for sure.....I love it! I agree the main event, for me, was satisfactory. I'd rather that than that fight go the full three as that very likely would have resulted in two tired dudes grinding I think
Yeah there is strong possibility that can happen too when you're using old heavyweights. Last night was best case scenario, and it's brought a lot of eyes on the tournament.
