Wing Chun is the Best Martial Art in the World…

in #sports7 years ago

Wing Chun is the best martial art in the world for me!

We are all different and there are numerous martial arts systems. Just because Wing Chun is the best art for me does not mean it’s the best art for you.

If you go grab some pizza with a group of friends, not everyone orders the same slice. Not everyone like anchovies and mushrooms on their pizza. People have different tastes and martial arts in that way is no different. There is a plethora of martial arts to choose from and you won’t know which one is right for you until you do some research and try out different arts for yourself.

All martial arts are great and they are all unique in their own way.

Tips on Getting Started

If you are new to martial arts and do not have a clue which one is right for you then ask yourself what are you looking for? Self Defense, Inner Peace, Exercise, Health, be a cage fighter, or perform in tournament?

Then hit google and do some research looking into numerous martial arts systems. When you find a system that seems to fit what you are looking for do a search for schools and classes available in your area.

If you live in a large city you may find yourself with a selection of school of the same art. My suggestion… go visit each class then make the decision that is right for you. When visiting be sure to ask the teacher any questions you may have pertaining to the art and classes. As well try and talk to some students as it is always good to hear things from their perspective.

Let’s Take a Look at Some Different Styles…

There are numerous martial arts styles, here are just a few that might interest you.

 Aikido

"The way of harmonious spirit"    Morihei Ueshiba founded the art of Aikido around 1942. He is called Ōsensei (Great Teacher) by numerous practitioners. Ōsensei was not a large man but what he could do was amazing. I highly recommend researching him and the wonderful art of Aikido in more detail. Aikido begin the way of harmony utilizes the attacker’s energy.

Judo

Meaning the gentle way. This art utilizes takedowns and throws and has evolved into an Olympic Sport.

Krav Magra

Krav Maga meaning contact combat is the military self-defence and fighting system of the Israel Military. Krav Maga is known for it's effectiveness is real world close range combat.

MMA

MMA stands for mixed martial arts which is a combination of several martial arts styles with focus on ground fighting as well as striking. MMA grew as a sport along with the UFC, ultimate fighting championship.

Muay Thai

Muay Thai kickboxing is a combat sport of Thailand. This is a very physical art that is very demanding on the body. Muay Thai fighters are well known for the use of their elbows and knees.

There are a wide variety of martial arts systems, from Tae Kwoon Do, Karate, Tai Chi, Jiu Jitsu, Capoeira, Hung Ga, Hapkido, Ninjutsu, Arnis, Eskrima, Kali, Jeet Kune Do, Wing Chun and many more.

So dig in and do a little research to find which art you are attracted too, visit some class and have some fun.

I've done wing chun for over 20 years but have tried most of the arts you mentioned. Wing chun has a lot of variation and depth in the different branches other than the Yip Man lineage. Very interesting art to learn and explore.

excellent! I agree it's an amazing art although one can learn it fast you can spend a lifetime mastering the art. Which style of Wing Chun do you practice, Traditional or Modified? Thanks for stopping by! all the best from @wingchun

hey there, there really is no "traditional" wing chun per se. They're all modified in one way or another. When I started in Wing Chun back in 96 I trained under a william chueng lineage. They claimed to have the true form from fushan but we now know from Gu lao wing chun that that's not the case. So, I trained under a few different lineages and most recently with a first generation sifu under leung ting before doing my own thing. What lineage do you practice?

Wow cool bro..

I always wanna try mma. Problem is theirs no gym here offering mma training.. nice post.

maybe you can find some sort of grappling school like jiu jitsu or a kickboxing or boxing class. MMA as you know is a combination of several arts, but it's always best to start with one and then branch out into others as your skill level grows. Shortly you will be able to study Wing Chun right here on steemit if you like!

You have to remember that MMA is not exactly a style in itself. I would suggest as echoed by Wingchun below to perhaps get into some other combat sports, perhaps several. Boxing+Brazilian Jujutsu or Taekwondo+Judo or Karate+Freestyle Wrestling. Something like that would give you a very good base for MMA.

Whatever martial arts people prefer but according to me pure exercises like martial arts will help you to become an better and great version of yourself and it help you to know the real essence of life. Thanks for sharing this post with us.

Stay Blessed.

My pleasure and thank you! all the best from @wingchun

Welcome and thank you. 🙂

I'm glad to see more Martial Arts posts. Am not exactly a traditional practitioner myself (HEMA guy), but very much respect the traditional arts even though I think the way they train many times should be updated. Cheers and perhaps I shall post some of my own stuff soon.

Nice post! I will follow you from now on.

I have done on and off about a bit over a year worth of Wing Chun. But I've changed country few times and each time there was a gap with the training. I'm now in Australia and can't find any decent school in my area so I recently decided to try another martial art and found Wu Xing Dao which is another internal martial art that is also based being relaxed. It combines four styles: Mian Quan, Tai Chi Quan, Mei Hua Quan and Ba Gua Zhang.
