in #sports6 years ago

Hello friends of Steemit, receive a cordial greeting, especially to sports lovers, the great stories that leaves us in their different disciplines. Today I will step out of football and tell you a great story that happened in an athletic race, which leaves us a great teaching to reflect.

We are not located in Japan where the relay race called "Princess Ekiden" was held, there one of its participants was Rei Lida and her team of female athletes, she and her teammates wanted to fulfill the dream of winning the competition like everyone else, but an accident during the race would change the history of this one.

This marathon format of 42 kilometers and 195 meters was for the runners to advance several stretches of race until reaching a certain point where the next member of the team continues the race with its respective stretch, if one fails all end up damaged. For months Rei and his team prepared with a lot of training, so losing was not an option for all of them.

In total there were 6 relays, when it was Lida's turn to run, she knew that her teammates depended on her to get the first place. At first everything was going well, until in the second leg she had an accident. The organizers and judges quickly became aware of this mishap so they informed their respective coach that for the safety of the athlete it was best to withdraw from the competition.

Before the trainer could communicate the decision to the judges, the cameras focused on Rei who, supported by her four extremities, continued the race, crawling did not give up. Perhaps her strong sense of responsibility motivated her to continue and move forward, so that the next race would continue.

The next companion shouted: "Please stop it, someone stop her", she screamed with teary-eyed eyes. Just like her, everyone was impressed, even her own coach, who was by her side in the last stages, who minutes before was about to tell the judges that they will no longer be in the marathon.

Rei Lida walked between 200 and 300 meters in this way, her companion who was waiting for her in their respective point of relief could not hold back the tears of seeing her companion make such an effort. Her remarkable display of willpower allowed her to continue rather than give up. In the end they let her finish her stretch so that her companion could continue with the race.

When she arrived she was quickly attended by her trainer and the group of doctors of the competition. She showed serious signs of pain in her knees which ended with peeling and bleeding. An ambulance was waiting for her minutes before the transfer to the nearest hospital.

This young woman with only 19 years leaves us a great lesson of responsibility and commitment. It is an example of not giving up so easily, regardless of the difficulty we face, we must always fight to the end and Rei Lida showed us that if you can so today I share with all of you this great story of a young woman who deserves to be remembered and applauded forever.
