Griffin: "Very not fun to build around LeBron"

in #sportstalk5 years ago

Three years have passed since LeBron James led Cleveland to a historic championship, after a 3: 1 comeback against Golden State and a dramatic win in Game 7. The architect behind that team building, which Kerry Irving and Kevin Love played, among others, was the general manager David Griffin, who is currently leading New Orleans into her new era, following Anthony Davies and Zayon Williamson.

In an interview with Sports Illustrated, Grip recalled barely putting a strong enough group around King James every year in Cleveland: "Everything we did couldn't hold and was unnatural and to tell the truth, not really fun either. I was very unhappy there "As soon as we won the championship, I knew I was leaving. There was no way I would stay, for any amount in the world. The night we won, I started crying because I was so obsessed with winning a title that I no longer liked the game."

Griffin was required at almost every opportunity to bring more and more players who fit LeBron's style accurately and had to give up many Draft assets and choices for that: "When we were in Cleveland LeBron just wanted to win. I don't think he's running the same way now for the Lakers, having already won that title."

The veteran manager, who finally said goodbye to the Cubs a year after the championship and after losing to the Warriors in the final, admitted: "LeBron gets all the credit, but nothing of the blame and it's very uncomfortable for other people. They don't like being part of this world."

More updates:

  • RJ Barrett will not play with the Canada team at the upcoming World Championships. The No. 3 pick in the last draft is suffering traction, remembering the Summer League in Vegas and preferring to prepare for the NBA season.

  • Meanwhile, Jaren Jackson Jr. of Memphis has been summoned to the United States national team training camp, where players continue to boast, with the last on the list being Andre Drummond and Montréz Harrell. Bam Adebayo from Miami was also attached.

  • Patrick Patterson has reached an agreement with Oklahoma City for his release in a buyout, which will save Thunder $ 5.7 million. He is expected to join the Los Angeles Clippers.

  • And there are such people as well: A gambler has set a bet of $ 100,500 on Vegas for Philadelphia to qualify for the playoffs this year. Of course, the Sixers Favourites are clear to do so and if they win, the gambler will only earn $ 2,010.
