'Forget Courtois, now it's time to Kepa'

Antonio Ruediger asked Chelsea fans not to remember Thibaut Courtois, after the Blues had Kepa Arrizabalaga. Kepa performed brilliantly on his debut match.

Chelsea released Courtois to Real Madrid in the transfer market this summer. As a substitute, the Blue brought Kepa from Athletic Bilbao for 71.8 million pounds sterling or Rp 1.3 trillion - making it the world's most expensive goalkeeper.

He made his debut when Chelsea faced Huddersfield Town at Kirklees Stadium in the inaugural Premier League match on Saturday (11/8). He recorded a clean sheet when he helped his team win 3-0.

Whoscored noted, Kepa did not make a lot of saves because the back line was quite slick. He only made one save in the match.

Ruediger said that Kepa was quite active in the field to help organize the defense. He was also pleased with the performance of his new colleague, while asking fans to forget Courtois. Previously the Belgian goalkeeper was criticized by fans for his decision to leave Chelsea.

"He has worked well. He tried to communicate as much as possible and was okay enough. We as defenders tried to help him and we did that. For us the day went very well," ESPN quoted Ruediger as saying.

"When he worked he was a very confident person, but off the field he was a quiet man."

"We all know how Courtois is quality, but he is no longer a Chelsea player. I pray for the best for him at Real Madrid, but now we have to focus on Kepa because he is our goalkeeper," he explained.
