SPUD Day // Just Powered Up 300 Steem! ๐ช๐ป
Hi Friends!
By now you have probably either powered up, or just wondered what all of this potato nonsense is . SPUD is a community initiative proposed by @streetstyle that stands for:
Steem
Power
Up
Day
Here's a little excerpt from Streetstyle's proposal:
On this day no one sells and no one sends Steem to any exchanges. On this day no one powers down and if you are already powering down, then Stop it for that one day and then start powering down the next day... those who can or are willing too, Power Up on the Designated Day.
Why I'm Jumping In
Whether this actually has any kind of impact on the steem price or not... I think that community initiatives like this have a certain sense of camaraderie and excitement. Besides, powering up during these bear market times will hopefully be really setting you up to succeed in the future. We've never been able to accumulate at the rate we have now with these low prices. I know we've been in this bear market for what feels like forever - but next time we have a bull run... I think a lot of people are going to be shocked at how much they were able to grow their account by staying active in the low times.
In the wise words of @exyle:
I want to build my account until it becomes impossible.I know that will happen someday. It's inevitable. When millions of users roam this blockchain. STEEM will then be too expensive to buy with FIAT and too hard to earn from the reward pool. Luckily for you and me, that day is not today.

Love seeing all the enthusiasm on the blockchain today! I've even see quite a few people reach their SP milestones, including @ashtv saying that he was able to cross the barrier to Dolphinhood in today's powerup! Congrats!
Now if you guys are wondering if I went to the store, just to buy potatoe's, just to shoot this photo for this post... then you are 100% correct. ๐

The sad part is that Iโm not eating potatoes right now. ๐ Maybe Iโll give them @maryjaney. As long as she doesnโt mind a side of sharpie. ๐
I felt inspired after reading this so I went to my wallet full of enthusiasm. But alas it seems plankton don't get steem as rewards anymore. I'l save up the steem that comes from spam and when I hit 0.025 I'll be sure to power up.
It is small actions that will push the spirit of this awesome blockchain.

Your so right @coruscate , I always try to get involved in any kind of community innitiatives when I ca, and this one was awesome! I stopped my power down for it and it looks like SPUD was a huge success!๐๐๐

Seems like everybody is jumping into the game today. If we see a few people take steem off the market as well it should have an effect. It wouldn't take much to jump start steem again if we could just get back some of the old users mixed with some new.
