SPUD Day, Dolphin Promotion and @chops.support Changes.

in #spud5 years ago (edited)

It’s SPUD day again but I’m not seeing as many SPUD posts as last time, that is ones proving that they have powered up.

IMG_7538.JPG

Still, I always find this SPUD day a bit of fun and powered up some this morning and yesterday too. I didn't intend to power up two days on the run but something was bothering me.

Yesterday I crossed the 35,000 STEEM line which technically made me a Dolphin I. If you don’t know the THREE levels of Dolphin hierarchy then they are listed below:

Dolphin III – >5000 STEEM Power
Dolphin II – >20,000 STEEM Power
Dolphin I – >35,000 STEEM Power

This is at least by the standard that the Steem-Plus Chrome extension uses.

I had crossed the line and yet I was still seeing Dolphin II. Granted it's not as big milestone as to when someone gains Dolphin III and joins the just over 2,000 strong club but I wanted to be in the BIG Dolphin club dammit!

Vests.JPG

I guess it’s all related to Vests, it usually is. Not the ones your ageing grandfather wears but vesting shares or it could simply be Steem-Plus on a go slow and not quite figuring the changes had been made yet.

So here’s my power up for today which finally lets me see ‘Dolphin I’ next to my banner. I haven’t powered all of it up as some of it is for a project I’m working on and that will cost me some STEEM.

The latest stats reveal we now have over 2,000 STEEM Dolphins but what I would like to know if someone can provide a breakdown of how many in each category? I'm sure @abh12345 or someone else can?

The middle class is slowly growing, and I'm glad to be a part of it!

In the spirit of SPUD I will shortly be going through the @chops.support account and removing some accounts who are constantly powering down and shipping STEEM out to @bittrex, @deepcrypto8 (Binance) or other exchanges.

This account was created as a thank you to some for helping me along when I was a young wee nipper, as well as to incentivise bloggers who want to grow their accounts and become Minnows and Dolphins (though there are some exceptions).

chops_crit.JPG

While this may sound harsh, there are limited spaces in this auto-voting account and I would prefer to see account growth AS WELL AS good authors gaining the reward once a day for their efforts.

Sure we all will power down someday but I can’t really justify feeding these constant power-down / ship STEEM out type accounts, it simply feels wrong so don’t take I personally if you find the vote is gone.

chops.jpg

I'm sure @steevc and the #tenkminnows project has some prospective new people who want to grow their accounts and which could benefit from a @chops.support daily vote.

Thank you to the supporters of @chops.support, you are awesome! @daan, @goblinknackers, @preparedwombat, @shanibeer and @steevc.

…but what I would like to know if someone can provide a breakdown of how many in each category?

It’s maybe not quite as accurate as checking on how many people have crossed the vesting thresholds of 10, 40, and 70 MVests, but if we’re using Steem Power levels of
5,000-19,999
20,000-34,999
35,000-49,999
we can then look at steemitboard.com or steemfriends.org for their (slightly different) SP rankings and come up with some close estimates of the number of Dolphins in each subclass:

5,000-19,999:
1633 (steemitboard)
1627 (steemfriends)

20,000-34,999:
293 (steemitboard)
295 (steemfriends)

35,000-49,999:
104 (steemitboard)
107 (steemfriends)

That's good enough! Just over 100 Dolphin I's and 3 x times as many II's. I figured the III's would be the dominant number. Thanks for the info!

Well done @slobberchops, you certainly have grown fast! Don't know if I'll ever get there!
I really appreciate @chops.support very much so thank you to everyone who helps with that:)

Glad to be of help :)

Wow, that is quite an achievement! I had no idea that there were three tiers of each fish class.... ah well, I'm plugging away at trying to make the first Dolphin tier. I power down (35SP per week) so it will take me a bit longer to get there... but I'm making steady progress! However, I don't have the spare fiat to directly invest... ah, the benefits of having kids that don't contribute!

There are three per class.. I can see you are:

I guess you don't use Steemit with the extension. Busy also tells you the 'rank' as you could name it.

Thanks.... my preferred interface is Steempeak... I think I had a look in at Steem-Plus, but I didn't want to install an extension. It's pretty stupid, but when I looked at Busy, they didn't have a dark mode!

I am congratulating you for being a Dolphin I @slobberchops :D
It is quite hard to rise in rank regarding SPs although cheap is very hard to really earn.
I myself just intend to power up as long as I have still funds to spend for my medicines.

A friend of mine described you as 'massive' when he started up, I guess you had to power some down for expenses in the past? Yes, STEEM is hard to earn.. but that's how it should be. It's only going to get worse in the future I feel.

I had cashed out liquid steem and SBD in the past but not powered down. @slobberchops

Wow @slobberchops , you're growing your account with the speed of light 😀 . Concrats on your dolphin status :)

Every day is SPUD day for me, so I don't really tend to make a huge deal about it. That is awesome that you made it to Dolphin I though. Congrats!

I have seen quite a few SPUD2 posts but I think I agree not as many as I saw SPUD1 posts,

WOW Dolphin 1 That is an amazing achievement Congratulations

You have just about double the SP I do now. That's not bad in a year or so. It would be good to see more of a breakdown of who hold Steem, but the @arcange charts do show how many are active and the total for each level. We need more votes coming from the users so the bots have less influence.

There are people I am supporting in this feed or you can follow the Steem Auto trail for @TenKMinnows.

I have invested a lot of cash in STEEM, some of it at the wrong time, but the majority not. It's not been an easy ride and requires an enormous amount of dedication as you well know.

Thanks, I'll use this as a reference when adding the new ones.

I can probably do that :)

Is there an 'Orca IIIIIIIIIIIII' to 'Orca I' as well, that 50k to 500k is a bit farcical.

If you find some boundaries for Orca let me know, or not - and I'll sort something out.

Nice work on 35k, catching up to Taraz :D

Not even looked at Orca yet, it's 15k away and on the horizon somewhere :)

I only know of THREE Dolphin 1's and one is that @tarazkp character you speak of ;).. yet I know many Dolphin III's. I think it would be interesting to see a breakdown.

There difference from 0-5000 and then 5001-20000 is huge, so just how many I's and II's are there?

I would assume that Orca levels would be 100, 400, and 700 MVests, so approximately
50,000-199,999 SP, 200,000-349,999 SP, and 350,000-499,999 SP.

Congrats on 35k. Powered up 50 last night and reached 10k steem today. Much of it is delegated out though. The reason why I don't care to prove it is that I don't qualify for the contest because I have over 5000 steem.

I don't qualify either, but it's an excuse to write something!

I did that post a couple days ago. Felt the movement though and just powered up another 25 Steem. Maybe it will be 100 by days end. Did a big OCDb bid last night and will do another one later. That sortof counts too unless you are powering down.

I'm fan of @ocdb, but how long will it last? If the 50/50 starts then some changes will need to be made to both this and other bot owners or they will die out.
