The Action Dimension of Leadership #3
Dear Steemians,
“Faith without works is dead.” -James.
The two profound statements that you need to pay attention to, from the previous two essays, are:
- You are always a thought away from winning and achieving your leadership dreams and
- Your leadership will eventually become your consistent spoken words.
Beyond the thoughts and words dimension of creating what you choose in your leadership, as the pioneer leader, there is the third, the Action Dimension. Your actions must be consistent with your thoughts and words such that they deliver hope to the people. The creating process requires that after you have thought about the possibilities within your reach, you must speak them to pass, and then begin to do the things that accompany the preceding thoughts and words.
For every thought, there is a corresponding word: and for every word, a corresponding action. I find it very interesting reading through the Ancient Book on the accounts of faith and works. And this is what I found out according to James:
“Dear Steemians, do you think you'll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? I can already hear one of you agreeing by saying, "Sounds good. You take care of the faith department, I'll handle the works department." Not so fast. You can no more show me your works apart from your faith than I can show you my faith apart from my works. Faith and works, works and faith, fit together hand in glove.
After believing and speaking possibility to your people, the next thing is to work it out. Working it out or acting upon your belief and confession is what guarantees the result.
It is not enough to motivate the people you are leading with great words if you are not going to fold your sleeves and get to work. In other words, after telling them how bright the future is, you need to practically show them how to work it out. For instance, after giving your team pep talks on the value of timing, you must back it up with the corresponding action of never coming late to a meeting, no matter what – that is backing your words with action.
All you may owe the people you are leading, after having conditioned the environment with your thoughts and words, in order to stamp their motivation and drive, is to take the first step in the direction of actualizing the leadership purpose and vision. The truth is, some of your followers will never join the work force unless they see you doing something.
The journey of a thousand miles in actualizing any project or dream begins with a step, and that step must be that of the leader, because leaders are only permitted to do what they are designed to do – they lead.
Nothing works unless the leader works. You must be part of the creative process by lending your hand to do the work.
Have a wonderful day Steemians!
