Appearance Matters

There is a saying that one will be addressed the way they are dressed. So the way you are dressed reflects who you are.

I heard the story of a brilliant architect who submitted a wonderful proposal worth millions to a company. The CEO of the company was so impressed that he invited the architect for breakfast at his residence on a Saturday morning to finalize the deal. The architect was excited, so he prepared well for the meeting. On the day scheduled for the breakfast meeting, the CEO was relaxing on his balcony and he sighted someone familiar coming from afar on a bike (Okada/Motorcycle). He waited patiently to know if it was the same person he was expecting. It was the young architect he was expecting. (He said in his mind, this guy don fuckup) The young architect was welcomed, they had breakfast and exchange gist. When it was time for business. The CEO told the young architect, am sorry I can’t sign this deal. The Young man was dumb founded but he managed to ask why. The CEO said he does not trust the young architect to use the money for what he claim he wants to use it for. He continued, that from experience when people like him land such big deals, the first thing they do is to start living a luxurious life, buy cars, upgrade his wardrobe and when they exhaust the money they come back for more without finishing the project. The young man now asked why the CEO judged him like that. He replied and said young man does not look like someone who is financially buoyant to execute such project, he told him that though the young man is brilliant but he made up him mind since he spotted him on the bike.

Though the young architect lost that contract, but he never let such repeat itself. Some people do not care about their looks, they have lost a lot of opportunities because of that unknowingly. Some have lost their dream job just because of their look
