The new kids on the block - checkout Steemit growth in India; it eclipses everything

in #stats8 years ago (edited)

Most of the traffic from South Asia is coming from all across India with some coming form Bangladesh and other surrounding countries.

Why focus on India and South Asia?

Well its undergoing a massive growth spurt over the last two weeks. It has rocketed past its all time highs.

Korean traffic as measured by Eastern Asia has been growing rapidly and is now well past previous peaks.

Aceh and Southeast Asia is not that far behind, but Southern Asia (yellow line) has suddenly awoken with the steepest growth curve yet.

This is good news for steemit, with growing interest in one of the most populous countries and where english is not so much of a language barrier.

Also India is waking up to crypto in a big way due to, amongst other things, the recent war on cash.

The Americas are picking up a bit after the scare they got from Europe but the growth in traffic in Asia remains the most impressive.

The green line shows a steep and consistent rise and we can see from the detailed graphs that it is fueled but growth across three quarters of the regions in the continent.

Lets hear from our South Asian steemians in the comments and see more articles from them, that will appeal to their regional preferences.

I am from India, I learned about cryptocurrency and steemit recently and have been enjoying it since i have joined it and not even 1% of people who blogs or write know about steemit yet, I think the growth of steemit in india in coming months will be incredible. @gavvet

I have been organising a daily challenge to give 5 Steem Doollars to increase enthusiasm among steemians to write different type of articles and stories, so I have started to make an effort to grow steemit and grow myself along with it, hope it will have a bright future.

These are the kinds of things that make steemit great, keep up the great initiative and encourage your countrymen.

Once I will have a little bit success on steemit to show my friends and people, I will myself encourage atleast more than 100 people from here to join steemit. I love steemit.

@gavvet I have been posting some Good articles from last one month, and now I have also started to organise contests daily, but the Number of my followers are very less, I would be very grateful to you if you could help me and give me a shoutout and help me to grow a little bit.

You only joined in April, it takes a little time, just keep at it, and don't post too much in one day

Okay, thanks for the advice. I will try to keep daily content low and the quality high.

You have been followed. :)
see!? keep interacting and keep your ideas coming and run them ... you will be fine. a little patience will help!

yeah, I noticed that Interacting with people on great posts give good results. I will try to keep doing that for my success here. I am a lot impatient person, And if I want something, I can't wait for it for long. Sorry for that, but It is in my behaviour and I can't help it. But I will try to keep my patience here @deanliu

I hear you! :)

Haha.

Updated about what?

your use of steemit and what india is like :D

Okay, India is awesome, you should visit and see for yourself, and you will be updated from time to time about both things and many more, as now you are following me. Thanks for following @robyneggs

I can't wait!! Right now I am studying Ancient India as well as Arabia, Syria, and the birth of the Muslim religion out of Mecca and Medina and its spread to India!! It is by far the most fascinating yet! I am very inspired by '1001 Arabian Nights'! :-) <3

By what you have told me about you so far, I am pretty much inspired about you now. @robyneggs

I'm one of he early adopters from India and its great to see these stats. Thanks for the same. Steemit has a long way to go and certainly will attract a lot of its users from India and S.E Asia. I've always stated in several internal discussions about the importance of gaining users from S.E Asian countries and especially India. It will certainly aid Steemit's growth in a substantial way.

That's some exciting growth right there! Looking forward to it continuing! Thanks for the research @gavvet

good growth it is

It looks like English is one of the primary languages of India. That combined with the massive population makes it a perfect place to see rapid Steemit.com growth!

Along with your key facts, the other factors are:

  1. It has started to grow recently in terms of technology, I remeber 5 years ago, anyone barely had any Internet connection here but now everyone has smartphones and Internet connection and a lot of cities have public wifi. It had a vast effect on people's knowledge about cryptocurrency. In a year or two, a lot of growth will be seen, and a lot of people will be having bitcoins and other cryptocurrency here.

started writing some science fiction short stories about the rapid changes that technology is causing in Indian society. India's total smartphone user base is going to double to 600 million by 2020

From this post: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@prateekarora/sciencefriction-short-thoughtful-sci-fi-stories-from-india

Not double, i think, but more than that, about 1.25 billion people live here, almost everyone has the latest gadgets and smartphones.

Let us not forget to thank LTE mobile network operator 'Jio' for it's immense contribution to the nation in providing this large internet access.. For those who don't know, 'Jio' provided absolutely free internet access upto 4GB daily limit at first and later 1GB daily limit for about 6 months along with free calls and sms. It is coninuing it's service with a very cheap internet packs price as compared to others, and which is ₹303 ($4.721) for 118 days.. This is why it has over 100 million customers till feb.2017 in india.

Maybe for this very reason India can be a very good marketplace for Steemit right now and of course largest democracy is welcoming the best..

Yeah Let's not forget Jio, I have been using it from last few moths and it was quite helpful in getting my Internet bills to nill.

And a couple of Dollars is serious money there.

Yeah, it is more than 64 times, also the average income people earn here is very less, it is less than 300$ per month.

Sounds like Steemit needs some serious marketing to hit India asap

Yepp, It needs a lot of marketing @igster

indeed. no firewalls, no net army. compatible with the rest of the world!

Thats great news I am from India too 😀

Bring you friends!!!

@gavvet yes.. my friend @mystisoul just joined.

I am from India and I freakin love steemit!!

Bring more friends!

I have tried to and got one of my friends @iamsgr to join. Most of my friends think it's fake or scam so they don't join.:(
I also got my cousin to join a few days back but with the problems in signing up he has not been able to login yet.

Very cool stuff. Steemit is the kind of system that makes it easy for the under-banked populations of the world to reach the ground floor of cryptocurrency.

Good news.

Upvoted and followed.
@shayne

It's always good news comes from your post, Sir. Hello from Aceh and let Steem the world!! :)

Go Aceh... you have some new competition.

Exactly. Thank you for your support from the very first. :)

Steemit is also rocking as Bitcoin and become more popular than other coins due to its great community and big discussion platform. nice share.

Yup, STEEM has far more to offer than Bitcoin

An observation about India:

It is the largest remittances market in the world, likely over $70 Billion by now. Steem could easily come to dominate remittances, in any market, if people are using the platform for other purposes anyway.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remittances_to_India

Exactly, and why use bitcoin if STEEM is free and fast
