IT'S NOT WHAT NIGERIA CAN DO FOR YOU, IT'S WHAT YOU CAN DO FOR NIGERIA

Hello Friends, It's a beautiful Monday morning and i will like to reflect on some of the things that bother every average Nigerians and also encourage you as a person to never give up on yourself and your country.
Enjoy!

Along many quarters, the people of this country have lost hope. If you asked many Nigerians about their opinion of the country, you hear phrases like ‘this nation is fucked’, ‘Nigeria cannot be great’, ‘I am tired of this country’, ‘nothing can work in Nigeria’, and many more. In the midst of that is also a festering corruption that has become the trademark of the country. Even the anti-corruption drive of the Buhari administration did not give any respite; we now have reports of snakes swallowing monies- an all time low and ridiculous defence of looting.

I try to search for a glimmer of believe in the eyes of many Nigerians but what I see mostly is a broken heart. Many young Nigerians who have graduated since well over 12 years ago are yet unable to secure a decent job. Some have tried to be creative by starting up small business but the returns are nothing to sustain them because recession and frustrating economic climate has caught up with their efforts. Workers are now owed handful months of salaries and the retired ones are suffered timely pension remissions and release of gratuity and benefits.

And so we are where we are right now: in misery, I have seen my friends lost the hope we use to share while growing up. The dream of a prosperous nation we have once dreamed to see has turned to a mirage. Many have thus concluded it cannot get any better.

But it is not true that Nigeria cannot be better. It is the deliberate actions of the elites that have formed this erroneous belief that Nigeria will not work on our minds. And happily so, they have continually fuelled actions that further make it appear truly that we are doomed. They sponsor attacks, ethnic divisions, secessions, killings and even paid for induced epidemics in the world such that it appeared naturally that we have been condemned.

I have said it before, that “politicians are no longer to be seen as only looters of a nation’s treasury. They are now looters of a people’s mind.” Yes! They set motions in place that makes you and I believe that we are worth nothing more than what we are currently. There is a system they have created that continually feeds wrong signals into the mind of the people. And when somebody or a system has succeeded to control your mind then your whole actions are then directed by the same.

Personally I think there is a need to re-orientate ourselves as young Nigerians. What do you expect to see? How are you trying to work to see them? What you expect to see is a determinant of your beliefs. Your beliefs will motivate the kind of actions you take. The confession of your belief makes it a reality, which explains why you hear the phrase ‘what you believe is what you get’.

Friends, this system didn’t create itself; it was carefully orchestrated to drive us all into a line, to make us believe that politicians truly hold our entire destiny, to make us beg for mercy, to make us rely on them and most of all to make us think less of ourselves.
On another hand, this system is created to give the elite an eternal advantage. It affords them access to the best of life virtues and ingredients. The access to these ingredients gives their children advantage to be better and when there is a need for a competition, their likes become the desirables. The system was created to give an unfair, lopsided advantage to the elites.

The way out of this first is to change our thinking pattern about ourselves as country men and women. _As a man thinketh in his heart, so is he_- if you must believe in your country, you must first believe in yourself.
Stop saying everyone in Nigeria is corrupt simply because many of our politicians are showing corrupt practices. Some people will even admit they are already corrupt when leadership positions have not been given to them yet. That is the instruction of the system I was talking about. It was created to give you counterintuitive to progress and forward thinking.

Rather than say things like Nigeria cannot work, you can begin to say that ‘I will make things work around me’. Rather than say ‘Nigeria is fucked’, you can say ‘Nigeria is a great nation’, rather than admit defeat of a conquered nation, you can be the champion of a winning nation.

Within our little individual efforts lies goodwill potent enough to redirect our path to greatness.
For whatever we constantly feed our mind with we become and replicate. Recreating our mind is the first step to our journey to prosperity as a people.

It is not too late to start to believe. It is not too late to start to rebuild. It is not too late to dream again. We are here today because of the decisions taken yesterday, where we will be tomorrow is consequent on what we are currently doing and the actions we are taking today.

Are you going to be a prosperity agent by renewing your mind and positively affect our dear nation Nigeria or are you going to continue to immerse yourself in the mental slavery that our nation will be forever handicapped? The decisions we decide to take will determine our line of actions and ultimately will translate to the kind of future we all see.

Nigeria is once again beckoning to young Nigerians to come to salvage her from the depravity of the long years. The attainment of greatness for our nation is much relied in the efforts of the hands of her youth. If we fail to act now we will also lick our wound together in the days of our grey hairs. If our dream of a decent and prosperous living is to be realized and sustained, the youths of this nation must take up leadership positions now.

It is unfortunate we live in a country where the government do not care about it's masses. I don't like when people say don't ask what your country can do for you. The country can do a lot for us. How about enacting favourable laws? Surviving in a country where you are given lil or no opportunity to thrive is hard. Yes we should be independent but what structures has the government put on ground to help us achieve that?
