Steem Cartoon : Challenging Yourself to be Creative

in #steem-cartoon7 years ago (edited)

Lesson

It is good to always challenge yourself. This posting I will show you how to create a picture from using custom shape tool. The more you experiment the more unique your artwork will be. I will be using ONLY triangles to design 3 quick landscapes. No brushes, erasers, soft brushes, blending just triangles.

image

image

Usee the triangles that has been customed go build the shape of each object and find the best composition. The choice of colour shall be only very basic colours.

image

Look for the right colours for the surrounding. The colour of the earth and the grass should be focus here. In the process always prioritize getting the fresh and dead grass. The combination of colours will predominantly be as follows. Green, orange, yellow, burn sena, brown and ultra marine. These are the main colours.

image

From the combination of the colours try to detail it by the shape of the earth and grass.

image

In this process we will use lighting and shadow to develop shape for every contour on the surface of the subject in this artwork. The role of obtaining the shape for every condition here is quite difficult because the choice of cuts are limited. So you have to becareful with each step.

image

Detail the process of shadowing and lighting and try to improve on the contrast of each object. This is to differentiate between near and distant object. Here I will try to focus on water colour as a medium. I will always paint the sky first.

image

I will then balance the colour and finish the detailing. Usually before the final touch I will use layer colour balance tool to find the correct mode for my painting. For detailing I will focus on the point of view of the audience. In this artwork I will focus on the peak of the middle mountain.

Till my next posting. Remember, always experiment because the artwork is only as good as the effort to make it unique. The more unique the artwork, the more pleasing it is to the eyes.
