Steem Cartoon: Recycle Damaged Watercolor Paper

Last week I've decided to draw legendary Jimi Hendrix using watercolor medium as my spare-times practise. I've used the watercolor paper that was left behind for quite sometimes.

After sketched and ready to work with watercolor

Unfortunately when applied the water and color, it shown the patches which indicate the paper is already damage.

The patches appear on the left and right of the paper

Before throw the paper, I've tried to figure out what can be done to it since there are another 10 pieces left from the book.

After sometimes, I have an idea to experiment it. Below is the step to recycle the paper and use other medium to paint. In this case I used acrylic.

What do you require for this activity:

1. Maskin tape
2. Gesso
3. Brush
4. Board

Here is the gesso that I used for this activity. It can be found in most of art store.

Use the maskin tape to stick the paper to board.

Using brush, apply the gesso from left to right (horizontal).

After 3 to 5 minutes, use brush to swipe vertically from top to bottom. This will make the surface smoother.

After 20 to 30 minutes the gessoed paper will dry and ready to use depend on the thickness of gesso applied to it.

Start to paint in acrylic. You also can use sand paper on surface - recomended if use oil to paint to cut down the dry time.
