Hi guys. Today I want to tell you a story about a very famous Malay legend in the archipelago. It is Badang. I'm pretty sure there are some of you who have heard about this Badang, right? The story about Badang is so famous that it has been adapted to movies, comics, animations and etc.

Story

In ancient times there was a servant in Temasek. Temasek is now known as Singapore. The servant was named Badang. His master was called Orang Kaya Nira Sura. Badang was given the task by his master to cut off the forest and clean up the bushes on the hill. The place will be used as a planting area. Near the place where the Badang was cut off, there was a stream. At the foot of the hill near the river, Badang rested after finishing work. After completing the prayer, Badang opened the supply. Badang eats rice in the carpets they carry. Even though the shoots are torn with salt chili, the rice packets are eaten. After that, he went to the creek. There, the fishes look around in the clear water. Badang thought, "Instead of eating rice with sambal, it is better try to catch the fish, to make a fish, if I can bring a lot of money to my master, I would like to eat a fish, a brook, and so on." Before Badang came home, he cut down bamboo. He made a trap, a trap for catching fish. He holds it in the river.

The next day, early morning Badang went down to break. Before starting the slashing work, Badang came down to the river to see the loot he had held. However, Badang was surprised to see that there was a fishbike stack on the riverbank near the ruins. He immediately went up to lift it. He finds that his sculpture has been tampered with. Inside there is no fish, except fish scales. He was astonished. Badang held back his trap in the same place. Then, he went to work. As usual in the afternoon, Badang returns to his master's house. The next day, Badang went off as usual. Upon reaching the place, Badang continued to go down to the creek to see his trap. Once again, he was surprised that the fishbank at the riverside increased. Badang kept going lifting it. He found that his scalp had no fish, except for the scales of the remaining fish. Badang got weird.

Eventually, Badang decided to spy on who stole the fish in his shot. He held back the loops. Then, he goes to break as usual. When late at night, there is one institution. Her eyes are red, long-streaked, bearded, and long-haired. The institution's face is very ugly. It's lengthy. The board lifted the rope and took the fishes inside. Badang then ventured himself, despite feeling horrific. He immediately pounced and arrested the beard of the institution. Take a fight. However, Badang did not release the institution. Finally, the agency claimed to be defeated. The board wants to be released. However, Badang did not release the institution so easily. The board is appealing to be released.

"If you let me go, I'll give you whatever you want," he said. Badang thought, "Is that the pledge of this institution? Badang wants to test, are the words of the board correct? Badang tries to figure out what he wants to ask. If he ask for a lot of property, then the property will belong to the master. If he ask for a beautiful wife, it may be taken by his master too. But if he want to be powerful, it can help him to clear the forest. "Well, I want to be mighty," said Badang. "If you want to be a master, you have to eat my vomit," the creature said. Badang reflects on and thinks for now. "All right, I agree, hurry up, so I'm stout," said Badang. The creature vomited on the yard that was there. Without delay, Badang also eat the vomit up until it runs out. When finished, he went home.

The next day, he did not go slash again. His master summoned and asked why he did not go slash. Badang tells that he has cleared the forest and the shrubs. His master, the Rich Nira Sura did not believe what Badang told him. He went to the forest to see his own soil. The Rich man Nira Sura is puzzled because the forest and the shrub have been exhausted by Badang. The Rich Nira Sura is happy that the forest on the ground has been cleaned. The Rich man Nira Sura then presents Badang to King Temasik. Then Badang was released from his master. There, Badang's fame went beyond to as far as India.
