More Steemit Secrets Just For You !

I'm back with our fifth installment of Steemit tips & tricks. In this installment we will go over how to get you followers and the importance of your title and opening line of your post as well as how to create a list.

How To Get Followers

Posting good content and visiting others blogs are some obvious ways but what are some other ways we can get more followers ?

Visit the introduction section here on Steemit

The introduction section is filled with spam and bot replies to new members. There is a reason for this. New members are likely to give you a follow if you upvote and comment on their introduction post. Just make sure you are making a sincere welcome comment and not a bot like response.

Follow For Follow / Upvote For Upvote

Create a weekly / monthly follow for follow post or an upvote for upvote post. Some will say these type of followers are next to meaningless but I disagree. While a bulk of the follow for follow members may not visit your blog again there will always be a percentage of the group that will stick around.

Create A Contest or Giveaway

This one is hit or miss but with the right contest or giveaway you could generate allot of interest towards your blog and in return end up with some more followers. You don't need SBD to create a contest or giveaway. It just needs to be fun. Giving away SBD does help with your contest getting noticed and one way to do this without dipping into your own pocket is to offer a percentage of the contest post payout to the winner. 50 / 50 split seems to be popular.

The Importance Of Your Title & Opening Line

Selecting the right title and opening line for your post is just as important as selecting the right thumbnail image. Just like the image the title and opening line of your post is what readers will see first and will influence readers on their decision to click on your content or not. So don't select a generic title and be as specific as you can in your opening line. For example if you are offering free SBD. Say so in your first sentence or title so the words FREE SBD are seen by anyone browsing through random content on Steemit.

So whats best .. Short titles or long titles ?

There is no correct answer. Short and to the point may work for some while a long title may work for others. Experiment with both and see what works best for you.

Creating A List

Instead of numbering your list you can create a list by placing a dash ( - ) and then a space between each listed item. For example below is a list of some of my recent posts. Remove the () and don't forget to create a space between the dash and listed item and your list will look like the below.

That's it for installment five of Steemit tips & tricks. I hope these articles have helped you on your Steemit Journey. Upvotes and Resteems are greatly appreciated. Keep an eye out for Part 6 !

You got a 71.23% upvote from @blogbooster courtesy of @rentmoney!

Thanks !

Hey @rentmoney, do you think I should change the comments? The curation trail follows up and upvotes too, so it adds up to more than just this one vote.

I think your comment is fine the way it is but adding the information of receiving more then one upvote from your services would be a positive addition imo. I would still keep it short like you are doing as a long comment may cause some to not use your awesome service.

You got a 71.23% upvote from @blogbooster courtesy of @rentmoney! My curation trail will be along shortly to add to your upvotes !

Or you could go a step further and include your price.

You got a 72.23 % upvote from @blogbooster courtsey of @rentmoney ! Receive multiple upvotes from me and my curation trail for just $0.005.

Thanks, I think I'll go for your first proposal, since the price is a variable followed by the upvote weight only from my account. The curation trail upvote equal on all as long as they have power to vote.

this is a very good tip especially for the newbies ☺️ keep it up👍

Thanks for the comment !

Good stuff. And remember the basics. Engage as many people as you can.

Excellent point, engage as many as possible !

Thanks for the comment !

The first hundred or so followers I got was from being part of newbie contests and initiatives like #newbieresteemday and #newbiegames, and from meeting people in #introduceyourself. The second hundred or so were from joining communities, particularly #teamgirlpowa. If you find a good community, that'll be a lot of friends by default. Of course it's your responsibility as a community member to participate and not just leech off everyone for their help.

I have to say that putting on a contest has brought in a ton of new followers. I expected that I'd make a few friends but so far I've gotten about 80 new followers and maybe 20-30 I've followed back (I only haven't followed the rest back because I haven't had time to check out everyone else's blogs and sometimes I miss when someone added me). But the prize I'm giving away is pretty large and I had a lot of people help me promote it, and I sort of turned it into a bit of an extravaganza.

The best way to organically and consistently bring in new followers is to create quality content and to add value to other people's posts through upvotes and comments. You should especially do that in the 24 hours after writing a quality post that you'd be proud to have as the first thing people see.

So I'd say the biggest things are participating in newbie initiatives that are specifically designed to get you those follows and get you up and running, to post great content, to contribute to other people's work, and one day, if you come into a windfall of SBD that you wouldn't mind parting with, hold a contest and have your friends help you promote it. Giving away #steembasicincome shares is great because you get one share with every one you give, so you get something back too.

Excellent comment. I wish my upvote was worth something so I can give you an upvote for it. Instead I will be visiting your blogs and upvoting them.

I have touched on some of the information you are sharing in your comment in my previous additions of Steemit Tricks / Tips. Newbiesgames is a great option for any new members. Not only will you win some free SBD but you will get to engage with other new members and some seasoned vets.

Have you looked into @dustsweeper at all? It’s made just for that purpose! I just signed up. I feel bad because I can’t really upvote anyone right now because of my contest (I’m trying to upvote all of the entries). I look forward to having enough SP to give out percentage votes and have them mean something!

Thanks for putting these together!

I have and its a great service created by @davemccoy. I believe it started out as just a post and @davemccoy upvoting comments that didn't reach the $0.02 threshold but now see a bot has been created.

I wrote an article on the threshold called... Your UPVOTE Ain't Worth SHIT . I been very vocal about he 0.02 threshold and been trying to spread the word. For those who are unaware .. you do not get paid unless your comments reach $0.02.

Awesome contest by the way. I will be entering it tomorrow :)

Awesome .. thanks for the free resteem !

I love what you just did with the post but I thought it s not right to say upvote for upvote

Steemit is open source for everyone. There is no set rules. We each use our account as we see fit. Which includes self policing. You will find some who don't like the idea of upvote for upvote and others that do and some that are indifferent to it. Its the same as the bot wars that are currently going on. Some are against bot use and others are not and lots are stuck in the middle.

Thanks for your comment !
