Technically hive is just steem version 23 renamed hive.

But yeah, I doubt when steem moves to version 23, they will do the same thing with those accounts specifically.

Just mentioning it is possible (and scary) that wallets can be entirely manipulated without keys during hardforks.

Very true. Especially the last part - it essentially means that main witnesses and/or someone with DAO account authority may screw the chain whenever they want.

But you realize that this is possible on literally every chain? That's the very foundation of how consensus works.
