Why Facebook is done

in #steem8 years ago (edited)

Think about it.

Facebook's business model is making money (selling ads) when people view your content. Isn't that a little crazy? It's your content - why would you give it away for them to profit?

The times are a-changin'. With the invention of bitcoin and steem, we have a way to distribute, share and monetize our creations. Steemit is only the beginning - anyone can grab the data out of the blockchain.

Programmers like myself will make sure your post is delivered to your friends - even if they are behind the Great Firewall of China or their government tries to shut it down. Even if it's inconvenient for the big players. We'll even do it if it annoys your neighbor.

We'll create content feeds and group pages. We'll syndicate, federate and decentralize.

Watch out Facebook. We're coming for you.

FB 10 year roadmap - click to expand

well that's the FB 10 year roadmap, i think it talks for itself 8]

I think it will have to reinvent itself because there will be changes very fast long before

Can we get a larger pic? I can't read that

Facebook isnt done yet, they have Oculus and the poor countries they're trying to get all online.

Not just Facebook... Reddit, Yelp, Pinterest, Twitter, Stack Overflow, etc... People are going to be like "Wait, you mean I can get paid directly and immediately for my content?". Time for Web 2.0 companies to start panicking!
