Epic Battles on the Steem Blockchain with Steem Monsters TCG!
I'm excited to bring to you today a combination one of my favorite past times Trading Card Games and a very interesting CryptoCurrency the Steem Blockchain. Enter into the fold STEEM MONSTERS.
A new collectible trading card game currently in a pre-release stage. The game will be starting off with 59 different character cards to collect and wield in battle with the idea that cards will gain experience and grow stronger each time they are played whether you win or lose. The idea of this is interesting and could make quite the difference when negotiating a trade between players as both the card's rarity as well as gain experience could be points of interest to take in to account when considering the worth of the card. I do have concern over this though as it is possible that if the game does take off and continue with multiple iterations it could lead to an exaggerated power creep which requires either new sets to start off with increasingly powerful creature cards or leaves new players in a position where they are unable to compete with seasoned players regardless of how the build their deck.
At this time, however, the game is not too expensive to get in to. The current cost is quoted at $5 for a starter pack of 30 game cards which is required to be purchased to get started then booster packs of 5 cards each are able to be purchased for an additional $2 per pack.
This is a small run for a card game as most that I have delved in to have started with around 120 to 150 cards to choose from initially. This I can let pass however as the project is likely a small team, if not an individually run project. That fact, however, does not remove my concern over the rules and process of the gameplay not being listed on the website. This could be an oversite by the creator and that is forgivable. It also could be a sign that the game is not quite finished yet and that a codified set of rules and game mechanics are not ready to provide. If this is the case it is more troubling. I hope that it is the former rather than the latter.
As with many things right now you may be interested in supporting this project just for the opportunity that it holds more than your actual love of the game itself. If this is the case, if you are prospect oriented then jumping in now before the game goes live may be worth it to you. Currently, the creator is stating that once the presale is over that pack prices may be increased. Also, it states that packs purchased during the current presale will have a higher chance of containing the Epic and Legendary rarity cards.
