Three years ago, a man was detained in a supermarket in Oporto for having tried to leave with 15 chocolates hidden in the jacket. To our knowledge, the coup was prepared without the help of accomplices. If, one day, the film industry wants to make a movie about it, the main difficulty will be to tell a story that has at least ten protagonists than the famous Ocean's Eleven, about the robbery of a casino. These judges upheld the fact that the criminal threatened supermarket staff with a syringe that said they contained the HIV virus, while the first judges paid more attention to the fact that the man was "a homeless man with an erratic life path."

It is worthwhile to examine the case more carefully. The court estimated the value of the stolen goods at 23 euros and 58 cents, which means that each chocolate costs about a euro and a half. Nothing is said about the size of the chocolates, so we do not know if it's relatively expensive little bonbons or relatively inexpensive tablets. Since the thief tried to steal and threatened to infect but did not steal or infect, some people with no legal background have asked if the one-year prison term will not be too hard, especially given the court's position on other criminals. Recently, a Felgueiras court sentenced a man and a woman to a prison sentence of one year and three months in jail with the aid of another man, also sentenced to one year with suspended sentence. The legal protection of chocolate seems to be on par with the legal protection of women, which denies the allegations of sexism of the Portuguese court. "We like you both as much as chocolate," the courts seem to say to the citizens of the whole country. There is another hypothesis: this crime was committed in February 2015, around Valentine's Day. Perhaps the court was suspicious that the indigent was stealing chocolates to offer to an adulterous woman, and failing to punish her, punished her boyfriend. That's right, too.
