Let's Talk—What Are Your Steem Power Goals for 2018?

in #steem7 years ago (edited)

When I first started out on Steemit, the price of Steem was very high and for a long time my voting power produced no more than a cent worth of vote. It left me frustrated so I decided early on that there is no point in complaining and instead started buying Steem.

I started with about 10SP of stake on the platform and bought Steem with every post payout in the early days. I kept buying all the way to about early Feb in 2017 when I had my crash.

Ofcourse, I did buy into other cryptocurrencies with the SBDs I've earned and even sold some Steem after the first SteemFest to cover my costs of travelling to the event and back. However, I missed the boat on buying Steem for cheap at around and below 10 cents a token in March when the price dipped to all time lows.

I was busy nursing my wounds in the hospital for a month, but I managed to come back to do some crazy work in the past year and double up my stake on our platform. The lowest I have bought was probably upwards of 30 cents-I can't remember for sure.

Anyway fast forward, I have been buying Steem for most past of the last year. I haven't fully powered up my account with some of the Steem I have on the exchanges as I trade in and out of the token frequently in order to maximise my holdings. But I have been powering up a little in the last few days and hope to continue doing this.

My goal is to get to 50K-60K SP on this account before the turn of the year. Seeing as how we are at over $6 a piece, it will take some time to accumulate. Some of my ICO investments have done considerably well which I will utilize to buy more Steem as we go through the year. I'd love to get closer to my all time goal of 100K SP which will give me considerable firepower to curate a lot more content than I do already!

I hope to accumulate as much SP as possible before we cross $10 and continue doing so throughout this year. There is so much new content from amazing new content creators that one can never have enough VP. Indian community is also growing at a steady pace and I hope to put myself in a position to support this and other communities with a higher VP when the platform grows.

What are you doing with your SBDs? What are your Steem Power goals for 2018 and how do you intend on achieving those?

I just reached my goal of 10 000 :)
Not sure if I have another goal in mind in terms of Steem Power, maybe to continue building up 1k per month jointly from posting and trading.

Moreso, 2018 will be the year where I focus more on building prototypes of applications with my developer friends that I believe can benefit the value of STEEM.

What are you doing with your SBDs?

I am selling them for BTC on bittrex and immediately buy Steems with the BTCs.

What are your Steem Power goals for 2018

+30%

and how do you intend on achieving those?

Make one or two blog posts every day, now that I am fully retired and have no other day job.

That is until the next selfie contest by @papa-pepper.....then the new day job begins.

:-)

I got a question if I may, why don't you just use the internal market to sell your SBD for Steem and therefore avoid BTC fees?

I don't remember where I read that it was batter for us to do that instead of exchange on the internal market.

That's true, as long as you get good rates on the external exchange.

What this does is increase the Trading volume for Steem, making it feel like a more used cryptocurrency. Sadly the internal market is not included in the trading volumes for Coinmarketcap, making it seem like it is a smaller currency than it actually is.

I am selling them for BTC on bittrex and immediately buy Steems with the BTCs.

Do you get more in return?

I believe so.

it depends, sometimes a little % cheaper to buy via bittrex.

Yeah, you're right that it's often a bit cheaper on Bittrex, but I would suggest that they always check both Bittrex and the internal market before buying anything to make sure they get the best deal possible ;)

Question: for a new account, how long does it take to get a decent amount of steem power assuming you are posting quality content every day?

It is impossible to answer this question, as there are many other parameters involved.

One easy answer is: if you buy Steem powers, you can get a "decent" amount immediately. But I guess your question was for somebody not buying.

To get more Steem power, it is important to have powerful followers that will upvote your quality posts.
To get powerful followers, you need to interact with them, so that they will be interested in you. Even better, if you can, you should help them to reach their own goals. "Give, and you will receive".

Also, their should be a common theme in most of your posts, so that people interested in the theme will come back to your blog and upvote your posts.

I see that your commitment to make at least 10 comments every day goes in the right direction.

Yep good stuff , vecelier. When you say "common theme" do you mean a particular subject or niche we should be discussing (that we have expertise on ) in our comments and posts? Or maybe a person's style of
writing ? Or maybe their general personality and opinions? Thanks. I am a Content producer for over 10 years now with a number of blogs. And just relatively new here and still trying to learn the ropes :)

When you say "common theme" do you mean a particular subject or niche we should be discussing (that we have expertise on ) in our comments and posts?

Yes, a common subject.

Take for example @firepower.
If you look at his posts in the last 3 months, you can see 3 themes:

  • steemit.chat where he is an admin (founder or co-founder?) and organize the Steemit.Chat Contest.
  • Cryptos and social networks in India
  • Let's Talk series, which this post is part of.

Another example with @sweetsssj:

Two series of posts that have been going on for months:

  • Miss Delicious
  • Travel with me

Another series, that she seems to have abandoned:

  • Miss opinionated

That is what I mean by "common theme".

Couldn't have said it better myself. :)

@vcelier that's great! I hope you get to your goals soon. Good luck to you! :)

My new years resolution is to buy bitcoin in 2011

I buy steem and transfer to my exchange, while i trade in and out to maximize my steem. Sadly i had to power down on my account so as to support my community with steem to get SP.
My intentions this year is to build my account with good enough sp. I intend to invest a lot in buying steem. I hope i am able to go a long way.
I intend 20k sp

@firepower I believe that Steem will explode this year! I sell most of my SBD for Steem and power up! Trying to gather as much SP as possible before it explodes. I prefer to reinvest my earnings because I truly believe in Steem's potential.

Me too. I’ve been powering up for a while now.

That's a good idea, @lordneroo! Steem Power is the best investment right now ;) Just imagine how much influence you get when the value of a single Steem increases by a lot!

That's a true optimist and rightly so since Steem will rise even further post 2018.

I sell most of my SBD for Steem and power up!

Best decision!

In fact it's listed as the best thing to do in Ten Ways You Can Use Steem When It Hits $10 , after I observed that the Steem price could be here to stay.

@firepower - My goals are to become active on Steemit, build a following and make this platform work for me!

I have to admit that I let things slip because it takes a lot of time to build a following and having put in work to my posts which didn't get seen by anyone was a little frustrating!

But the last few months have been big for me! Proposed to my gf in September and we got married in December, just 2 days before Xmas!

I sold all of my crypto coins, except Steem, and cashed out on the profits. I made a conscious decision to get out of day trading and short term holding because I'm spending way too much time checking the charts and market movements, and I don't want to dedicate too much time to that!

I'd rather spend time learning new skills, like programming, building my own blogs or learning to generate passive income!

Today is actually my birthday, 27 today, and it's been a lucky one. So here I am passing on my luck! I wish you all the best and hope 2018 is even more prosperous than the previous year!! :)

Keep Steeming on!

Happy Birthday @soul-thru-da-ink!

Thank you!

Goals?

Tomorrow we will tell half a million people about the power of STEEM!

Hey thanks for the headsup on this!

Yeah sorry for the link spam, I normally dont do that. We got so many Steemians on board already, it's incredible!!

Not really link spam when it's resulting in community action to get more people onboard. :)

Oh wow, you've managed to get to many people to join now. Good job, @fitzgibbon! This will for sure bring in a lot of new members here tomorrow.

I've never seen a community as supportive and amazing as right here on Steem. I somehow feel like we've only touched the surface yet, I'm a small minnow with little reach.

For next Thunderclaps I'll network a bit more in advance, are you on Discord @valth?

Yeah, it's a very nice community in here! I agree that we have only touched the surface, and we will soon have multiple the amount of members here (at least by my estimations).

Yes, I do use Discord every now and then. I'm on some Steem channels such as PAL, or one called SteemSpeak & Golos Crypto with the username Valth #7597.

I am going for 10k by end of year and right now I am taking sbd selling it and preparing to buy a little dip to then power up with steem. I take a small percentage and buy a few alts just incase they go up I can sell some and power that up. I try to post once a day with original art to produce something of "quality". Also am going to be more active since my busy season is over on steemit chat and on twitter.

That's great! I hope we get to our respective goals soon. :)

My dear friend your such Great posts please Support me i liked your posting style I'm trying to post Great but I'm not get Good profit in steem @firepower thank you I wish you will support me

I want to get up over 2000K!

Hoping to reach 5000 SP by the end of this year :)

Numeric SP goals seem to be a bit nebulous to me. I had aimed for 3,000 SP by the end of 2017 but actually finished off the year with 4,300. My short-term goal is now to become a dolphin (10,000,000 vests or about 4,882 SP).

The vast majority of my SBD has been converted to SP. Some has been used for donations, a small amount taken off-site and converted to BTC for no good reason. About half of the SP I have has been earned here, half bought with other cryptos.

I hope to grow my SP by about 1% a week. That would put me at about 7400 by the end of 2018. But if the price of Steem goes up significantly, my buying might go down, not that I’d have reason to complain.
