Steem Communities: Sports Betting Community has arrived
Well like it says in my steem name, I am/was a sportsbettor. Not a professional one, but I did it as a hobby. When I did register on Steem, the idea was the post about my journey as a sportsbettor. I already had a blogspot running, which does goes back ages :).
But for some reason, I didn't post about sportsbetting at all in the beginning. This changed when I did met @costanza, @stimp1024 and @beat-the-bookies. After some time we did create a virtual steem betting community! We did run it on Steem and Scorum. Glad that both did start with an "S", so we could change it into the Sports Betting Community.
On both platforms we did support blogger who did blog about their sportsbetting adventers and even habe a professional sport bettor among us! Quickly we did find out that it was hard to run a community. People just started to post about betting to score an upvote. Which was thanks to delegation for most of us, a giant upvote (euhm giant back in those days was around $0.08, which now almost feels like hitting the jackpot).
We also did start with the weekly and monthly contests. Both on Scorum and Steem. Scorum had some great potential and for sure when they did launch their betting platform!
But quickly we ran into problems with the regular sports bloggers, which did think that our posts didn't add anything to the blogging part of the platform!
Besides that because sports betting and playing poker does have lots of common grounds, we also did sponsor a monthly freeroll on the older versions of https://bro.poker created by @tuck-fheman.
Now Steem does give us an opportunity to write these post in a more secure community, where only like minded people are present! People who can appreciate a good betting blog, people who can appreciate a good tip or learn from losing ones!
They only thing we also ways asked and also will keep doing in the future is that our members do keep a betting record. This is important for them, because it is the only way the learn but also important for their followers, to see how good their betting record is! So transparancy was and is the utmost important thing in the Sport Betting Community!
So it is time to kick this community back to life!
