Exclusive: Q&A with Asiring Rapper CHRiSTiAN

Christian Cook, a.k.a CHRiSTiAN, is a 19-year-old rapper from Moraine, Ohio. I found Christian on Soundcloud, on Tuesday, January 30th, and I was impressed immediately. The dude can rip the mic apart and make a banger, or he can slow it down and put you right in your feels, talk about versatility. All cards on the table, if I had to compare his sound to any rapper who has rapped ever, I would have to say that CHRiSTiAN and Nas have a lot of similarities. I know that is a bold claim, but his music speaks for itself.

In a day and age where rappers find a lot of success through trap music, which is not a bad thing in the slightest, Christian has been making waves by connecting with his fans on an emotional level. As I have said in previous articles, who doesn't like to feel every now and then.

Anyways, Christian and I linked on twitter and I was blessed with the opportunity to ask him a few questions. Check it out!

Q. How's the hip-hop scene in Ohio?

A. The hip-hop scene in Ohio is very different from what I do as an artist. Majority of people focus on trap rap, and just make the same kind of music over and over. Nobody is really pushing the boundaries artistically; so that's my goal.

Q. I know your career is in early stages, so is mine, but what's been your biggest challenge so far?

A. My biggest challenge so far was finding my voice in hip-hop. I'm only 19 so still had to learn who I was as a person and it just took a lot of time to finally break through and find my lane as an artist.

Q. What's the future looking like for CHRiSTiAN the rapper? How far do you want to take this thing?

A. Music saved my life; this isn't even about CHRiSTiAN the rapper this is about Christian Cook the person. A lot of these rappers just rap to rap; I started rapping in middle school to cope with issues and suicidal thoughts. This is everything to me.

Q. On your YouTube, I noticed you have a couple beats on there. Are you trying to produce your own beats? Beats for other rappers? Or both?

A. I actually started as a producer! when I started rapping back in 6th grade I was always fascinated with making beats and engineering my friend's songs. I got to a point as a producer where nobody was rapping on my beats, so I said fuck it I'll do it lmao. Not really trying to produce for other artists as I'm focused on myself, but I still do it quite often

Q. Alright, you're from Ohio, so I have to know, what are your thoughts on LeBron James?

A. I honestly don't even watch sports lol I just don't have time. But yes, I'm a fan of LeBron, as a person. He's from Akron which is a terrible city and he just overcame so much so you gotta respect that.

Q. Finally, is there anything that YOU want people to know about you?

A. My motto is simple; be yourself, be Original. It's tatted right on my hands. My goal is to be that artist that saves your life when you're feeling low; not the artist you play at the club. I want people to hear my music and feel inspired; I want people to be themselves unapologetically, and follow their dreams💯

As you can see, Christian is a great guy who is truly looking to bring something positive to the world through his music. He seems very dedicated and determined to become one of the next big hip-hop artists. I for one, cannot wait to see what the future has in store for Christian.
