$420 a Day for YouTube Ads Promoting Steem Equals?

$420 a day in ads for Steem on YouTube Equals.png

  1. 15,000+ viewers a day interested in cryptocurrencies spending 33 minutes each learning about Steem while on YouTube in the United States, United Kingdom, Australia, and Canada. Campaign budget for this is $300 a day with an average cost of $0.02 per view with an average watch time per viewer of 33 minutes. 25% of users seeing the ads skip it which does not cost anything. Ads show on videos with bitcoin, cryptocurrency, and hundreds of other niche keywords like eos, eth, etc. The video for this ad is the "#1 All In Altcoin" video below which has proven the most effective in keeping users watching the longest.
  2. 50,000+ ad impressions on Google display network websites resulting in thousands of clicks every day worldwide to steemit.com from authors featured Steem's the top 25 posts and on posts on my blog including resteems. Cost: $45 a day.
  3. 5,000 - 10,000 views a day on several more promoting Steem including a video from @joeparys, a video by @tomasgeorge, and a few of mine. These are "remarketing" ads targeted to viewers already having watched one of my videos which have proven extremely effective for conversion across all types of digital marketing and online advertising including many of my own campaigns.

Strategy Summary!

The idea is to first get new viewers already interested in cryptocurrencies to learn more about Steem using the video proven most effective at maintaining viewer attention for the maximum time. After making the first impression, we then build a deeper relationship with viewers having already watched any video on my YouTube channel by explaining Steem in several different ways including with videos and posts by other authors. This gives us the greatest chance to drive new sign ups and keep those interested in Steem coming back.

Top Video = #1 All In Altcoin for 2018!

The average watch time in the USA on a YouTube ad for this video is 33:41. That means for every person that spends a minute watching someone else watches more than an hour. Out of all the videos I have tested, this one is by far the best according to how long viewers watch which is why it also is getting the majority of the budget and making first impressions.

Additional Videos!

@joeparys produced the following video in a beautiful short format based on this experience on Steem! This video was very popular uploaded to @dtube at

@tomasgeorge produced this video as one blogger to another sharing his experience on Steem! Tomas's video also received strong support on @dtube at

To help promote @utopian.io at https://utopian.io/ I included this video targeted mostly to github users.

Ideas?

If you have another video you would like to suggest for me to include as a YouTube ad, will you please post the link to YouTube in a comment because I will then consider adding additional videos to the remarketing list?

Funding?

The most incredible part of this system is the collaboration we have made together to fund these ads through using my account as a voting bot which then returns about half of the bids to delegators and funds projects like this via @budgets with the other half! All of my Steem power author rewards and witness blocks produced from nearly 5,000 witness votes at https://steemit.com/~witnesses help increase the funding and payout to delegators each day.

Thank you specifically to the top delegators and witness voters listed below that provide the majority of the funding currently which enables us to pay for projects like this alongside of many others to grow Steem!

@freedom, @livingfree, @fenghuang, @hendrikdegrote, @thejohalfiles, @roadscape, @fyrstikken, @adsactly, @slowwalker, @xaero1, @neoxian, @czechglobalhosts, @laurabanfield, @mastermel, @jasonclay, @joeparys, @jefflutz62, @sc5tt, and @pagandance are the top 10 witness voters and/or top 10 delegators which make this possible. If you enjoy following me, will you get to know those most actively collaborating with me because none of us do anything alone here?

Witness Update!

This project shows my primary contribution to Steem outside of posting which I do once daily. Thousands of us are actively collaborating to fund projects that build the Steem blockchain, provide investors with daily payouts, help new authors get recognized in contests, and feature this work to millions of social media users and bloggers that will be more appreciated on Steem.

I collaborate with @someguy123 and @privex to manage my witness along with personally staying aware of and participating in my server's maintenance, updates, and witness parameters.

Will you please join us in participating in witness voting at https://steemit.com/~witnesses by either making votes below or setting me as a proxy to vote for the following users because our witness votes are the most important we make since witnesses create each new block and decide on what version of the Steem blockchain we experience?

Setting a proxy is an ideal solution for most of us seeking to fully participate with minimal effort. In addition to voting for myself, I am voting for the following witnesses based on what contributions and mutual collaboration I see. I update my witness votes every week with the intention to do the most good with each.

If you are doing your own witness votes, will you consider adding one or more of the following because after a lot of consideration in who to vote for, I am voting for @adsactly-witness, @anarcho-andrei, @blockbrothers, @busy.witness, @cervantes, @clayop, @demotruk, @dragosroua, @followbtcnews, @furion, @fyrst-witness, @gmuxx, @jatinhota, @klye, @liondani, @neoxian, @netuoso, @prc, @privex, @reggaemuffin, @sircork, @skenan, @steemgigs, @suggeelson, @teamsteem, @utopian-io, @yabapmatt, @yehey, and @zappl?

Thank You for Reading/Watching!

I appreciate the opportunity to be of service here with you and hope this video and post is useful!

Love,
Jerry Banfield

Hi Jerry, it's hard to follow what you're saying in this video after you start playing an ad simultaneously in the background. You're effectively talking over yourself (from the perspective of a viewer). Perhaps the ad could be muted (I don't know if it's too late to do that now)?

@demotruk thank you for pointing this out because I thought the background was muted and I realize now with the new audio setup I have that it was not. It is too late to fix it for this video and thank you for helping me figure this out for the next video! I am happy you are out of the hospital! Awesome data on your last post!

@jerrybandfield anecdotally, I've noticed more and more Steem links via Twitter and elsewhere. The iron is currently hot. Keep hammering away. History will remember you kindly, I believe.

What would need to be done to inject some anti-censorship/surveillance language to attract refugees from Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube? I'm thinking that number is massive.

Yes I am going to do more posts about that soon!

...and Jerry please inform us before starting another Ads so we could buy more steems first ;D

This is Crazy .... I guess I will spend $$$ on Youtube Ads and forget about Facebook and Google Adwords. Very good information. I think that your Youtube Ads are causing a nice bump in the price of Steem and Steem Dollars today.

Maybe we could simplify it even more for people and explain that there is no cost to join AND you get paid for doing what you are already doing.

Any time I meet someone who is a writer or into social media I explain to them that Steemit is a great new platform that will pay you for your content. I have gotten over a dozen people to sign up although only a few have been consistent about posting.

All of them have made money however and probably don't understand the future value of STEEM. This has the potential to be a several hundred dollar coin one day.

Agreed. There is a lot of potential with Steemit. I wonder what improvements will come out in the future to assist with cross promoting with multiple social media platforms. There is a lot of room to grow

Thanks for sharing this @jerrybanfield. You are doing some great work, I am glad to see it. Advertising Steemit is hugely important and I'm glad you do.

As I mentioned before, I am running a project that is trying to get funding in order to build Steemit as a platform by helping to develop beginners on the platform, advertising Steemit and of course by providing detailed guides on how to do well on Steemit. I have asked you before about working with you and about how to apply to budgets, but I can't join your inner circle at the moment and I also have not hear back about my query re. Budgets.

I actually got in contact with Ned Scott yesterday and he is open to talking about my efforts to support Steemit. I want to present him with some amazing advertisements, as well as show him the work that my project, the SSI does for the community. In order to do this, I really do need support from big players on Steemit. I feel that this is an opportunity that shouldn't be passed up, because if I can get the support I need to move to Steemit full time and start working on some really cool advertising campaigns, supporting beginners, creating guides for beginners etc., I can then get back to Ned and show that 1) There is a huge amount of support behind the project from some very influential people on Steemit and 2) I have created some very lucrative advertisements. Because I work in marketing, I know how to create ads that generate conversions, which is what they will look for in a successful campaign.

My project basically supports the vertical integration of professional bloggers, while growing the platform a lot. If you can get back to me with supports that are available, I feel that we could really grow Steemit to mass adoption levels, or at least show the Steemit core team what we are doing and hopefully get their support.

Thanks again for showing us the work you have done!

Thank you! I hope @jerrybanfield will also cooperate with you! Happy to hear, that everything is moving forward! 👍

Luke I just took at look at your last four posts about and I agree it is an amazing idea which is why we already are working on this now in every area you have suggested to contribute to.

@minnowsupport, @ocd, @curie, and several other communities along with individual upvoters like @teamsteem, @thejohalfiles, and many more do exceptional curation. @utopian-io already has huge delegations to support contributions to open source projects.

A bunch of us put out guides consistently as featured at http://steem.guide with mine and there are ten times that many more.

As I mention in this post, I already am running ads that are proving extremely effective in keeping user attention and my followers here at almost 30,000 show that the ads not only provide conversions to sign ups but also turn into active users.

In other words, we already are doing everything you have included in your SSI. Comparing our numbers now with Facebook is not relevant because it is also not 13 years ago. We have a lot more choices online today. Users often sign up for Steem, get disappointed, and forget about it as you said. What you left out is how many actually come back which is significant and growing.

Our existing projects have discord channels and are immediately available to new users. If @ned is willing to provide you a delegation to create your own community or other individual delegators will, that is great!

I personally do not see a need to launch another initiative when what we have is so strong and already working. That said, I have got this feedback on my projects and found a way to innovate solutions where we had nothing. For example, as far as I can see, the ads I fund are some of the only advertising we have for Steem with serious funding.

While I support your enthusiasm and desire to contribute, we will benefit from you evolving your approach into something that truly provides value above what we already have outside of contributing to existing projects.

I would love to have another video to advertise for YouTube and I would love to see you put your expertise to work in making one!

Thank you for the feedback Jerry!

Firstly, I know that multiple projects already curate, but the issue is that with a massive influx of users on the platform, more project will need to be started to support the new users. As with any platform, as it grows, the number of big supporters also needs to grow.

It's great that you are doing advertisements, and it's great that you are getting a lot of followers which shows that the advertisements are working. The difference with the SSI is that we plan to run professional advertisements that are strategically designed to catch a users eye - there is a reason why big corporates have specific advertisement methods, there is a reason why certain ICOs get more traction than others, there is a reason why some platforms get more users than others. A big driver of these reasons is professional advertising; a video of a person explaining Steemit is great, but there needs to be a mix of people doing this and what I plan to do; Instagram ads, facebooks ads, all designed by a graphic designer, all bringing in users who are typically attracted to psychological marketing strategies.

Comparing numbers to Facebook is extremely relevant. If we want to follow Metcalfe's law like any other network, we need to try to scale and grow in a similar manner. In fact, technological innovation generally reaches adoption more quickly as time goes on, so we should be comparing to a scaled model of Facebook's history. Time does not change statistics and metrics. I did not leave out how many are coming back. Only 8.11% of Steemit users are daily active users, which is a shocking metric when compared to most platforms (even if you look at them in their earlier days). It's something that needs to be addressed, which SSI aims to do.

So, SSI is doing a lot differently. It is focusing on a different type of marketing that is proven to work, and will eventually roll out in person netowrking events, workshops, an in person incubator, and more. It is aiming to increase the amount of daily active users too, which is another unique feature. With regards to everything else that we plan to do, like I mentioned before as a platform grows so does the need for more support projects.

I hope that the above convinced you as to why there is a need for another initiative. Personally, when I have the power to help, I will try to support the growth of more initiatives. Steemit is a hub for creative entrepreneurs, so I will try to foster and grow as many as I can. I respect that this is not your point of view and that maybe you feel that you do enough with all of the great work that you do, but personally I do not understand why it doesn't seem helpful to support an upcoming innovation.

By the way, @ned is not willing to delegate SP, I simply said I contacted him about what I am doing and he said he is open to talking. I will need the support of big community players to actually bring a solid project and present it to the Steemit core team professionally.

I can't evolve my project without support; I am trying to move to Steemit as full time as I can be, but the less support I have for the project, the less that I can do that, because I need to earn to support myself and family of course.

Finally, I am not great with making videos unfortunately. I have a very good cinematographer who is willing to come on board when the project grows some more, but until then I won't be doing video advertising, in fact I can't do any advertising until I get monetary support to do so.

Thank you for getting back to me, and thank you for reading through my posts. I hope that you can see why what I'm doing will benefit the community, and why it needs support. I am really trying to help the Steemit Community, but I need initial support to get things started. Thanks again for everything that you do already Jerry, seeing all of the great work that you do was one of the things that inspired me to also start trying to do some great work for Steemit.

Luke I support your continued contributions and I support the work you are doing to build your project! I see your desire to benefit the community and I see a need for it to evolve further first by more completely including what we already have here.

We have many independent projects all trying to do the same kinds of things. Figure out a way to help what we have build on each other and we have something very exciting.

Jerry, truce but um the double audio on the youtube video is crazy lol

Thank you for saying you support it Jerry, it means a lot.

I'm primarily looking for support to grow the project though, in terms of growing SP and growing the project, so that I can pay my graphic designer, photographer etc. to create a professional, attractive campaign for Steemit. I really am looking for any support, be it from yourself, from @budgets, or any willing Steemit fellow.

Yes, that's what my project does Jerry. It adds to what everyone does by providing a new type of advertising, a professional, attention grabbing type. It adds to the daily active users by focusing on growing that.

If you can actually offer support in any way, please let me know. Again I am looking for support from anyone willing, and I reached out to you because I thought you could help and would be willing to. If not, that's fine of course because it is up to you, and as I said I know you do some amazing work already.

Thank you for your time anyway, I hope you can support me in some sort of way!

By the way @jerrybanfield, it was pointed out to me that I may have come across as if I do not think the work that you do is professional. I just want to let you know that I think you are doing some excellent, professional and extremely important work for Steemit!

I will continue to support you through all of the work that you do, and thank you again for doing all of it!

When you want to Flag them but see their Steem power]

Like always, thanks for everything you do!

This is simply awesome! Thanks for doing this for our blockchain and bringing more and more value to all of us! Bring on the big numbers! 😀
