RE: My effort to get Steem featured on the Business Insider network
The advantage to Steem over bitshares in this example is that Steem has no transactions fees, while bitshares has a nominal transaction fee.
For the purpose of sending 'fiat' values from one business office to another, bitShares would be a better network because you could send bitUSD or bitAUS(?) and not have to worry about changes during send, but then transacting out of bitShares is even more complicated. so there's that
I don't really care much about ultra penny TX fee. Maybe it serves a purpose of deterring any malicious act of flooding the network with empty blocks. What I disliked about Bitshares is that, it is painful to the eyes to navigate the platform. They seem to over-complicate simple things. Not recommended for noobs, it's the equivalent of Linux in OS.
I already sold my little collections of BTS in order to buy Lumens. Stellar has a more potential for global adaption compares to BitShares. A truly non-profit organization aimed to make currency transfer smooth and seamless. Stellar will be the next big thing when it comes to utility--a sleeping giant.
I haven't researched Stellar very much yet, but I will look into it.
Stellar Lumens' grandest goal is simply Stellar, IMO. For long term HODL.
