Steem Community: Let's get Steem on Coinbase!steemCreated with Sketch.

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

Here's what you need to do:

Go to the link below and fill out an application for steem:

https://listing.coinbase.com/

*Edit: It looks like Steemit,Inc staff will have to complete the listing application, but the community can still send emails as mentioned below.

Also, if you are already a Coinbase customer, sending them an email on the support page requesting that they add steem would likely be another beneficial step.

Their emails can be seen here:

[email protected]
[email protected]

*I initially contacted that second email ([email protected]) and was instructed to go ahead and fill out a support ticket with my request to add steem.

Why this might be the time Coinbase listens:

Coinbase has been suffering from lower trading activity and dwindling new sign-ups for months now. If a large community such as this one starts requesting they add steem I think there is a good chance they might listen.

Especially since steem didn't go through the ICO process which means it is less likely to labeled a security by the SEC, something that Coinbase has been concerned about in the past with their new coin additions.

Go ahead and fill out an application from that link posted above, and send them an email telling them how badly we want steem on Coinbase.

Resteem this post and get it in front of as many eyes as possible.

Let's get this done!

Stay informed my friends.

This is a great idea, but from what I can see, the form is meant for developers of crypto assets. If we all start submitting that form, won't it look a bit spammy?

This is the link they directed me to when I requested they add steem in an email, so I am not sure if it is only meant for developers.

If so, then we get this to the Steemit,Inc team.

And yes, it may be a bit spammy, but what do we have to lose at this point? We already don't have steem listed for 2+ years... what are they going to do this point, keep not listing it?! Which would be the same place we are right now...

Gotcha. I will fill it out today just to remind them. :-)

I think it's only a matter of time before Steem gets on Coinbase. As you said already: volumes are down in the crypto space and the legal risk with Steem is minimal.

Steem not doing an ICO should be a major bonus compared to other coins in the eyes of Coinbase.

I heard there are some serious issues with steemit inc and Neds massive steem supply that is hurting the steem ecosystem. The term unaccountable actor is used a lot.

I could see this for an issue for major exchange listing.

That could be part of it, yes.

I agree that it should be the owner of the asset who fills in the form.

On the other hand, I also agree that a bit of positive spamming won't hurt :)

Yep, I see the merits of both :)

You are right in this one!

This sounds like a great idea @jrcornel and I will try to send them email.
Any way to help Steem.

Good post but that’s gonna be a hard task! People are right at some point gonna look like s spamming coinbase about Steem! If they can see the future in Steem they will require to list it then self! Give them some time!

They have had 2+ years thus far...

I emailed both addresses and explained... This would be great.

Aaaahhhh, now what?

Ha, yea we may need the Steemit,Inc team to complete this. It's been sent to them. Or perhaps if you have invested a great deal you could continue... ;)

Those people from Steemit should bust their ass for 12h per day doing this...

Why are they doing nothing to promote their own product - I don't know

Maybe they are doing something, but I have never seen a single ad related to Steem(it).
Very strange...

Agreed. This is just one small thing they should be able to get done. Hopefully promotion is coming at some point for steemit.com. They did just hire a new operations manager...

I'm really struggling to understand their logic...

Steem is worth 100.000.000 $

If the price becomes 2x higher, the math says that it would be worth 200.000.000 $

Maybe we should invest 1% in marketing, something like a million $, right?
Noooo, just let our Steemians roaming around blindly in the complete darkness without any measurable power nor authority to do that for us.

Ok, let's pay 1 decent marketing team for a month, chief, designer and 3 spammers for 10.000 $? Noooo... It's too much also.

Ok, 1 Eastern European for 1000$?
Nooo... It's just fine to be silent for a month

And to let our Wiki page looks like this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steemit

I don't get it either brother. The only thing that makes sense is they were living high off the hog when crypto was mooning and they were doing little to nothing in terms of development. With some targeted advertising, they could have steemit.com pay for itself and then some. Yet they continued to sell steem every single week... again makes no sense.

I am really interested in this, but also relatively new to steem. Issnt there are round table of people that can decide such things.

I assume there should be a group full of the steem witnesses. And maybe even elections amongst those people?

what about this?

I don't have all legal documents to submit application for STEEM.

Yea, it looks like all we can do currently is send emails requesting they add steem. We need steemit, inc to fill out that application.

I have sent physical letters as well with great insights as to why it should be listed. It would be great for sure even despite the bear market, adding liquidity is ways an advantage!

That is awesome. Have you heard anything back?
